Some witnesses said four children, aged around 12, were shot dead by U.S. troops who opened fire randomly after the blast. There was no independent confirmation and the U.S. military had no immediate word on the incident.

Howard, a strong U.S. ally, spent about six hours at Baghdad's heavily guarded airport, where Australian troops are involved in air traffic control, to mark Anzac Day, the day Australia and New Zealand honor their war dead.

Every time children are killed or maimed, you can square the number for an estimate of future guerilla incidents in that immediate area.
