It's about 4 bombed out Humvees in Baghdad with three dead Marines apiece.

http://english.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/83DD9200-265A-47D8-83E3-D9753608DCB4.htm

Two US helicopter gunships have launched a missile attack on Falluja's Golan district despite talk of an enduring if not unstable truce.

Aljazeera's correspondent in the besieged Iraqi city, Abd Al-Adhim Muhammad, personally witnessed the attack on Monday.

Muhammad added that two residents were taken to hospital just moments after the first attack.

US occupation soldiers also pounded two districts with heavy machine gun fire, local residents said.

Skirmishes in the Golan and Shuhada districts broke out around 11:20 (07:20 GMT) and were ongoing.

7. if it's a "ceasefire" what the heck are the troops doing "advancing" ??
.
.
.

from your link:

"Local residents said the clashes appeared to have started when U.S. forces probed into the northern areas of Falluja. U.S. officers had no immediate comment on the incidents."
___________________________________________________________

So an American ceasefire means:

" when when we advance on you don't shoot at us? "

the US WANTS to blow the shit out of something, maybe anything -

convince me different

11. convince you different?
No, if that doesn't sum it up, it surely must seem that way to the armed resistence in Falluja, and that's a significant reality.

I don't expect the negotiations to yield much in the way of peace because they're not being pursued in good faith, nor are all the parties to the conflict adequately represented.

To be fair, I don't know what promises have been kept or broken by the Iraqi combatants, so I don't assume they're more honorable or more concerned with the general welfare than the Americans. Local residents clearly side with the guerrillas in overwhelming numbers. That doesn't bode well for the occupation army.

6. Here is something from reuters...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=578&ncid=578&e=2&u=/nm/20040426/ts_nm/iraq_dc

Local witnesses said Monday's battle, in which guerrillas fired rocket-propelled grenades and Marines opened up with heavy machineguns mounted on vehicles, was triggered when U.S. forces probed into northern districts of the town late in the morning.

An hour into the fighting, U.S. helicopters attacked.

Even before the latest clash, local people had little faith that Sunday's deal would do more than extend a scarcely observed cease-fire and would expose the patrols to the guns of the fighters, who, the Americans say, may include 200 foreigners.

"I expect the U.S. and Iraqi forces to be exposed targets for the resistance. No one can control the feelings of the sons of Falluja because they are very angry," said Abdul Hakim Shaker, another resident of the city of 300,000 west of Baghdad.

18. We wear the
White Hats, remember?

Looks like all the talking heads are saying the same thing, ROve's fax machine must be glowing cherry red..

basically, with the July 1st date LOOMING we MUST get this SOLVED.. so the military MUST present a MILITARY solution..

the solution? Same as it's EVER been.. they will BURN THEM OUT.. just like in WATTS, just like in WACO, they always do the SAME OLD SHIT..

they are preparing us by saying that the "insurgents" are hiding weapons in MOSQues (notice they blasted one of those already) schools, etc.. symbols of civilization..

"Hey church guy, if you can't control these guys, the CHURCH goes - get it?" obvious..

And Bush will not be held accountable as HE is saying that the Generals will get whatever they want, and of course THEY will make that decision, even tho on Yahoo we get to see (later retracted) stories of Bush, just NOT able to quite make up him mind yet..

same old same old..

these poor bastards are DOOMED.

just saw a Newsweek reporter on CNN tho that said, "You know, it's starting to look like they are ALL Insurgents.."

that sent a nice chill up my spine.. poor poor people..

this is SO HUMILIATING as an "american" to be HELD HOSTAGE by BUsh and his BOZOS of DEATH...

THey will be filling up more INVISIBLE Coffins soon..

Here's my latest flash on that "MURDER BY NUMBERS"

37. Yep, terrorists and the states that sponsor them according to the failed
Bush Doctrine of pre-emptive, permanent war-which, coincidently, sounds just like PNAC.

I consider mercenaries "terrorists", most all the rest of the world is in agreement about that-but the administration of George W. Bush aka The War President employs mercenaries and has the USMC taking reprisals for them, The War President also has USMC shutting down newspapers and targeting the world press in Falluja.

My dad was part of the 604th Platoon USMC in WWII, he was fighting against militarism and fascism-what's wrong with some USMC today, I ask this as a sole surviving son of a Marine and loyal to US Constitution American citizen.

Btw, mercenaries are big political contributors-but I doubt that you'll see this in Stars and Stripes--click on Dyn Corp for example, all those Iraqi police and police stations being attacked (along with US military) are the responsibility of Dyn Corp by contract awarded

That'll piss off many non-violent types wouldn't you think?

The US has LONG passed any illusion of being "liberators"

They are INVADERS, Occupiers and Murderers.

Just ask the tens of thousands of Iraqis that have lost their loved ones to the American "liberation"

I'm disgusted

Just fecking disgusted.

34. Unbelievable
CNN is reporting that the insurgents attacked first in violation of the "cease fire" and that, in response, Marines called in helicopter and fixed-wing aircraft support.

These are lies. The military briefing of the press yesterday said that the Iraqis were stockpiling weapons in Mosques and schools. They were preparing us for this with the "excuse" in advance. This attack was planned and Bush* may try to distance himself from it, but he can't. He ordered this.

CNN's Jim Clancy just said that the insurgents put weapons in mosques because the subsequent destruction raises anti-American sentiments. I think that's crap. (Well, yes, it certainly does, but that's not the reason we do it.) I think we blow up the mosques for the same reason racists burn African American churches. It is an effort to take out a center of organization, socialization and comfort. It is an attempt to demoralize, humiliate and degrade a culture.

Fighting rages in Fallujah

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/04/26/iraq.main/index.html

After taking fire from a minaret, the Marines called in close air support, destroying the 60-foot tall structure, Marines said.

In addition, fire from helicopters set ablaze buildings in an industrial area of Fallujah, sending clouds of black smoke roiling into the sky.

A Marine commander said he believed his forces were vastly outnumbered and credited them with fighting "like lions" in confronting their attackers.

27. A Marine commander said he believed his forces were vastly outnumbered
U.S. Marines patrolling a section of Fallujah today engaged in a raging firefight with insurgents that left 10 Marines injured, four of them seriously, according to Marines on site. What happened to the "limited number of dead-enders?" How could these "couple of holders-on" outnumber our forces? That wonderful Bush and his administration couldn't be telling lies.... Could they?

43. Correct Translation!
"Skirmishing started shortly before noon (3 a.m. ET) after a Marine platoon left its base camp and advanced 200 yards to occupy two small houses in the northern portion of the city. Insurgents opened up with barrage of rockets, mortar and automatic weapons, prompting U.S. commanders to call in air strikes. Loud explosions were followed by plumes of smoke rising skyward.

The intensity of the battle eventually forced the Marines to withdraw and return to their base, according to a pool reporter on the scene."

----snip----

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4824213

OK. Let's review. The Marines "advance" 200 yards, and they set off a shitstorm, and must pull back. And Bush thinks that they'll be running "joint patrols" tomorrow??? This policy is not only stupid, it is putting Marines in danger.

33. "Marines wounded in Fallujah": link
~snip~
Four marines were seriously wounded and at least six others received shrapnel wounds during hours of fighting between US forces and scores of insurgents at the northwest edge of the city, the reporter said, citing a marine company commander.

Marines said they had been attacked by sniper fire from a mosque, which was then targeted by US forces and the minaret was destroyed, he said, adding that US attack helicopters had raked the area with heavy machinegun fire.

Plumes of black smoke were shown rising from buildings in Fallujah, where joint patrols between marines and Iraqi security forces were expected to start this week after an apparent easing of tensions.

Senior coalition military officials had previously been ramping up the pressure on militants holed up in the city, warning that "time was running out" to hand over heavy weapons as agreed a week ago and threatened a renewed offensive.
