Sprightly Pope announces six more beatifications
The Guardian
<snip>

Pope John Paul II demonstrated new-found vigour yesterday as he announced six beatifications in four different languages and then braved wind and rain to kiss several children as he toured St Peter's Square in his open-topped "Popemobile".........

The newly beatified comprise a priest, four nuns and a paralysed lay woman, all described by the Pope as "eloquent examples of how the Lord transforms the existence of believers when we have faith in him".

Sounds like he's off the medication again and back on the homeopathic papaya extract....

2. I have six new beautifications to announce, too!
* our redbud trees are blooming -- bright light purple!

* one of our dogwood trees is blooming -- fresh green leaves and creamy white blossoms!

* water birds wherever I go -- they're not newly beautiful, but each time I see them I feel new

* the tree outside my boss's window is GREEN!

* I'm about to open a new can of Lime Diet Coke -- it's the pause that refreshes!

* it's spring! green & flowers everywhere! thunderstorms coming today!

Six new beautifications in my life! I think they top whatever Karel can do.

He's quite something, regardless of what you think of all his views on various issues.

It is amazing
looks like "God goes with him", as opposed to a certain shrub like humanoid.

4. Everyone who goes to heaven is a saint. Worth remembering.
Christian doctrine is that all who enter paradise are saints, the ones the church cannonizes are just the ones that we supposedly have "evidence" that they have, after death, interceded in human affairs and done good works as saints qua saints, not when they were alive.

5. Of all the Pope John Pauls, I like number one the best.
Just finished reading David Yallop's "In God's Name". Was he murdered by the P2 boys, Calvi, Sindona and Gelli? They sure had cause to want him dead. He was about to clean house.
