White supremacist Matthew Hale has been found guilty in Chicago of trying to solicit the murder of a federal judge.

Hale's philosophy of a "racial holy war" drew national attention in the wake of a follower's deadly shooting rampage five years ago. The 32-year-old Hale was convicted in Chicago of four of the five charges against him.

He maybe would have been found guilty if it had been just a regular guy that was threatened but it sure doesn't hurt to be a judge. Judges don't like to be threatened.

I agreed with the Illinois State Bar when they denied him a law license because of his public statements and publications encouraging racial violence. He was openly asking for people to break the law and that is not consistent with a lawyer's role as an officer of the court. He argued that his publications should not be counted against him--it was free speech--and the Illinois Bar found that not to be the case.

I defended his right to appear and speak at the local library--simply because I did see it as a first amendment issue. (He makes me feel ill, thus I figure his speech is in need of protection--ya know?) I also felt he should have been held liable for the bill for the extra police protection they needed to keep him safe, however, too.

It all comes down to accountability, IMO.

Soliciting the murder of a Judge, however, is indefensible--but to do it over something so stupid as a copyright infringement case demonstrates just how terminally stupid this little racist really is.

7. I Question Your Last Line

When this scumball goes to prison, i seriously doubt he will be there a long time. He will get shivved. I'd bet a paycheck on it.

His reputation is known far and wide. The gangs in the prison will work together even though he'll be protected by the aryan gangs.

I think he's toast should he end up in a max. security facility.

He is a truly loathesome creature and deserves whatever fate comes his way.

His "racist self" most likely is dead meat in any prison setting, and that is just a matter of fact.

You are right, Professor--he's not gonna be in jail long--most likely he'll either be in the hospital or the morgue.

While I do not feel anyone should be the subject of such an ill wish calling for injury, I will also say I can't find enough forgiveness in my heart to hope for his safety. Makes me wonder, maybe I am as bad as he is when it comes down to it.

If I was really enlightened I might be able to muster some sympathy for his upcoming bad times or even care...

5. I read that comment about his laughing about the Smith massacre

and got sick. Smith brought his havoc and murder to my hometown. Of course at the time Hale claimed that Smith was no longer in any way affiliated with Hale and thus Hale's frequent incendiary rhetoric (about working to spark the "inevitable, great" race war) had nothing to do with Smith's actions. In terms of what would constitute responsibility in a court of law - he was probably correct that he wasn't in any way accountable. But legality and ethics/morality often diverge.

I am glad to see that this hateful, arrogant, sob was found guilty. There is some sort of poetic justice in the fact of his having to spend a great deal of time in close proximity with some individuals who might take exception to his rhetoric and actions.

Illinois is a great state, all of the top state offices are held by Democrats, and
Illinois went to Gore in 2000. They even call Illinois little California.

Let's talk about the racist idiot Matt Hale, he lives in east peoria, I live in peoria. This
scum is hated everywhere, his group is about 15 people. When he holds a rally
more people show up to protest him than show up for the rally.

In the peoria area 99.999% of the people hate him, he is not liked anywhere. Whenever
he leaves his house he has to be escorted by security or he gets his ass kicked. All the
buildings in the area banned him from holding meetings, the last meeting he had in a building
was at the peoria public library. A riot broke out and the library banned him from holding
meetings.

So he had to move his meetings outdoors at public parks etc. He spoke to his 15 idiot racist
members through a megaphone attached to a tripod. They used to show his meetings on the
local cable access channel, at best 10 to 15 people were there. He wold hold a rally on a street
corner, they would have signs saying white power etc. About 6 people showed up, and this
is in a city of 130,000. Everyone would drive by giving them the finger and cussing them out.

So before you insult an entire state know what the hell you are talking about. The people of
peoria and Illinois would like to see him get life in prison, he is a low life racist piece of shit.

I'm glad we got rid of Hale, but that said I dont' think what you said about Hale being a "Freeper hero" is fair. Most of them are not racist. They sure as hell support some devious policies, but calling them racist just isn't accurate.
