2. IBM has been exporting jobs since the 80's
IBM would set up agreements with other countries to bring jobs there. When things slowed down in the middle 80 to late 80's they could not close over seas locations because of country agreements. Instead they started shifting jobs overseas and cutting the USA workforce.

That workforce is now 1/2 of what it was in the 80's. It was downsizing and doing to programmersa and IT people then the same thing that all companies are doing now.

At the same time the marketing forces were saying it was hard to find good people, this was being done in all companies then. That is when the group who are now losing their jobs came in. They believed the hype and said older workers did not have the skills. ALthough they were training the new workers.

Sound familiar! It is. The outsourcing to India and other parts are using the same words and same ploys they used then. Those new workers in India are saying the workers in USA are not keeping up with the skills. That the new workers have the skills and the older workers don't. Same song and dance. Only now it is a flood to the other countries.

People, corporations and the media did not listen when it happened 15 years ago. Now it is happening to them.

Other countries have been looking out for their workers. Notice how Powell reassured India that the USA would continue to outsource jobs to them. The contracts are being written with the help of the administration and laws created by our congress favoring outsourcing. NAFTA was the start. Perot told us it was the start.

ALL corporations are doing this. The multinationals started it back in the 80's and continued it while replacing all the IT people with new younger people who are now the same age as those they replace and their jobs are now being replace by new younger people. The cycle continues. Encouraged by our government and our Corporations and the stockholders who loved to hear people have lost their jobs.
