Bush-Cheney 9-11 Testimony Seen As Closure

Bush-Cheney 9-11 Testimony Seen As Closure

TOM RAUM
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - President Bush's supporters see his and Vice President Dick Cheney's upcoming testimony to the Sept. 11 commission as a form of closure, enabling them to show maximum cooperation and get on with other business.
(snip)

"You should not look at this as an adversarial process. We are all working toward the same objective here," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan of Thursday's planned closed-door testimony.

Bush and Cheney will meet in a private session beginning at 9:30 a.m. EDT at the White House with all 10 members of the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

At the administration's request, the questioning will not be recorded, nor will a stenographer be present to make a transcript. Commission members may take notes. That significantly differs with the commission's interviews with former President Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore, which a commission member said were recorded.

1. Whose objectives exactly???
"You should not look at this as an adversarial process. We are all working toward the same objective here,"

I sincerely doubt they are mine.

5. Jersey Girl decides
The bush team can say all they want but until the 4 heroic widows that are responsible for the investigation are satisfied the investigation will continue as the people of America support them and all the right wing talkers can't stop them.

2. Closure?! CLOSURE?!!
Why do the same f**ks who enabled this get to decide when to establish closure?

from the article:
<snip>
"This is a closure in terms of procedures and in terms of some of the symbolism that is associated with the commission," Bond said.

Once Bush and Cheney testify, the administration will be able to say that "all interested parties" right up to the president had appeared before the panel "and no stone was left unturned," Bond said. (empasis mine)
<snip>
So when they say closure, they really mean CYA!!!

This is so they can parade around all fall, wrapped in patriotic tones, declaring that Bush* 'vetted' the issue, and that the commission has "closure".

Un-f**king-real...

3. Revealing AEI blurb...
Again with the snip:
<snip>
Norman Ornstein, an analyst at the American Enterprise Institute, a Washington think tank, said that on balance there are "more positives than negatives" to the joint appearance by Bush and Cheney.

"Unless a president really messes up, the sense that you're being forthcoming I think helps in this case," Ornstein said. "If Bush says something really foolish, that could be a negative. But I doubt very much that that's going to happen. And the odds of that happening with Cheney there are less." (emphasis mine)
<snip>

Finally - they admit that Cheney's whole purpose is to stop Bush* from making an ASS of himself in front of the commission!

26. I was thinking about this last night. Effing whitewash that it is.
They are probably gonna sit around and make jokes have a catered lunch and get home early. Probably the only questions that will be asked will be "Can we go home yet?"

Cheney- "No we should probably have a couple of martinis first, we need to stay hid for at least another hour."

4. sorry scotty
this isn't closed until we know why squatter parked his ass on a chair and didn't move, or even REACT, when card told him of the second strike.

I really, truly, hate these lying, thieving, murdering, book cooking, poverty hating, education wasting, senior citizen marginalizing, health care denying rat bastards!

There I feel better now.

6. it's not "CLOSURE" in my book
- when bush* needs to hold Cheney's hand

- when the testimony is behind closed doors

- when the testimony is NOT under oath

- when there is no audio, video, or written transcript available

for all we know this so-called 'hearing' will be nothing more than a tea party and a discussion about the weather

36. Closure? You wanna bet?
Probably will stir up more mess.

There WILL be interviews with the commissioners, making the usual rounds. ESPECIALLY in this case, because their postmortems will be all we'll have.

And...

of course...

a few of us here...

and elsewhere...

could...

COMPLAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

which I seriously doubt, for LIHOP/MIHOP there will never be closure. Just like Dallas 1963 and the Warren Commission history will always be there and some of us will not let it go.

19. Do remember folks...
Edited on Wed Apr-28-04 08:37 AM by Triana
...that this 9-11 Commission is entirely a dog-and-pony show. It's for looks only. It's a paper facade that bu$hit, Inc. can put up to tell the public: "see, we investigated it, we questioned everyone and found no wrongdoing - move along now, move along...nothing to see here..."

And - the gullible sheeple will swallow that whole and wholeheartedly because most of them are the ones who voted for a man who is as big a gullible, puppetmaster-driven idiot as they are, to run this country. Nevermind that the idiot LOST and had to get his Daddy's friends to appoint him King instead.

Now, unfortunately for the rest of us...well - you know. The acronym SOL comes to mind...the gargantuan FAILURE that bu$hit is, was BEFORE 9-11, ON 9-11, and AFTER 9-11 will never EVER be shown to the public.

EVER...count on that. It won't happen. We'll all KNOW - but that's it. The screaming evidence will never be properly publicized while bu$hit is king...

20. taking notes
I guess the best thing would be for them to go very slowly and take a lot of notes.. I want to read quotes. I want to know how much Bush says vs. how much Cheney says.

I wonder if the notes have to be "approved" before they're released to the media.

21. The entire findings of the 9-11 commission...
...have to be 'Vetted' by the White House before official release. NOTHING that the White House doesn't want the public to know or see will be allowed in that report...

That was the deal...that's why many folks say it's just a stupid 'dog and pony' show...

37. ALERT, you guys. This thing doesn't HAVE to be over - unless
people like us give up on it.

As long as there are those of us out there insisting that something more be done, this case will not be closed completely. Or if it is, with THIS panel, no reason why we can't get the next congress (a more Democratic congress) to reopen it, and do it correctly. It'll only go away if we allow it to go away. I, myself, would prefer NOT to have my name on such a possibility.

Y'all know what to do...

It is the end of G.W. Bush in history books. His legacy(although not much) will be that he racked up more vacation time in his first few months than any other president in history.

I don't know about you but I don't think I would want to be remembered for bieng asleep at the helm and and not having plans for anything, and starting a needless war.
