KIEV (AFP) - A Ukrainian soldier was killed and two others injured in an ambush in southeastern Iraq (news - web sites), the Ukrainian defense ministry revealed.

The incident occurred near the village of Zubadia, some 180 kilometers (110 miles) southeast of Baghdad, when three Ukrainian armored personnel carriers came under fire.

It was the second Ukrainian soldier killed in Iraq this month, with the former Soviet republic vowing after the first death on April 6 to keep its 1,600 troops in the country despite decisions by other nations in the US-led coalition to pull out their forces.
