Bush 45% Kerry 45%

Wednesday April 28, 2004--The latest Rasmussen Reports Presidential Tracking Poll shows President George W. Bush with 45% of the vote and Senator John F. Kerry with 45%.

President Bush has led or been tied for eight straight days. However, he no longer holds the three points plus edge he had maintained over the past three days. Neither candidate has held such a lead for four consecutive days.

8. ?????????????/
Would Kerry get a boost if he chose Edwards as the running mate?

Consider Edwards compared to Cheney at the VP debate. That is a slamm dunk visual with Kerry and Edwards winning.

11. I love Edwards, don't get me wrong.
But Clark would be best. He has no voting record for them to distort. Like him or not there were no Americans lost in the former Yugoslavia so the attacks for his management there will be lame. And it gives the ticket a defense boost and a kick in Arkansas, Oklahoma and the military.

Edwards will make a great AG, which will give him the visibility for '12.

14. The VP debate would be dominated by National Security....
Edwards is very weak on NS and it shows when he tries to talk about it.

3. I think his smear campaign on Kerry is backfiring big time.

Is it sinking in that republicans are gutter politicians?

BTW, I watched Kerry on Hardball last night and aside from a few questions I wish he would have answered differently, he kicked butt. I give him an A-. He even changed my husbands mind who has been disappointed in his lack of aggressivness.

Edit: I think the more air time Kerry gets, the more he will inch his way up in the polls. Look at Kerry on Hardball versus Dickhead giving his speech. Which is the more appealing politician if you are undecided?

6. yeah and it makes me wonder...
... who the hell they are polling? I hate polls, technically they could poll 900 people in Nashville and 2 other people from each state and that would be a "national" poll.

7. Great News For Kerry
A challenger wants to stay tied or close to the incumbent because that means that there are huge numbers of voters that are willing to give the challenger a chance. Also, it clearly shows that Bush is not popular outside of his "base".

Don't be fooled. Tied or close polls favor the challenger.

9. One caveat.
Rasmussen polls are trashed here quite a bit as unreliable. This is good news, but don't go to the bank on it.

10. With $150 million war chest, Bush should be way ahead by now!
I wonder how much the candidates have spent on their campaign so far?
Kerry doesn't even have a running mate and he's tying Bush.

Bush's campaign spending rises to a hefty $98M
By Jim Drinkard and Judy Keen, USA TODAY

WASHINGTON — President Bush has spent $98 million in his re-election campaign, nearly as much as he spent to win the Republican nomination four years ago.

In a report to be filed with the Federal Election Commission today, Bush discloses that he raised $184.4 million by the end of March, and his campaign had $86.6 million in the bank.

17. Thanks for the correction!
I didn't know Bush had raised that much money ($184.4 million) and has spent over half ($98m) already.

and is tying Kerry.

Bush doesn't have the sense to get himself elected.

Thanks again!

13. Kerry will define his self during his acceptance speech
at the convention. Kerry will get a huge boost in the polls. Look for kerry to probably go to 65%+ then fall back to around 55-58%, then 52-53%. Bush will get a boost that will take him to no more than 55-58% then fall back to the same 47-48% he's had this year and will have until the GOP convention. The 10% undecideds will split 85-15% for Kerry thereby ending the Bush revolutionary provisional government.

Of course, all assuming a fair election that will be supervised by the UN.

18. setting up for the steal
if they can manipulate the poll numbers so it's pretty much split, that allows the steal to take place.

and the polls are a joke. just where are they coming up with all these bush fans. must only be polling in the midwest and the south. and even there it is questionable.

21. this is GREAT NEWS!!!!!!!!!
didnt some jerk off in the village voice just say that dems should look for another candidate. someone should show him the latest polls including zogbys and explain that at this point in the race, as much money as bush has spent, bush should be up double digits over kerry.

the fact that bush isnt is horrible news for bush.

so chew on that crap.

Bush has been a strong leader. I think that will keep him from having any significant declines in the polls from this point on.

28. LOL!
That's a joke right?

That's why when he was told about the second plane hitting the WTC, he got right to work! Uhh, actually, that didn't happen did it? He actually didn't do a damn thing except continue reading a children's book. He didn't even ask a single question to Card after Card whispered in his ear that the country was under attack. Yeah, that's some real leadership right there.

How pathetic.

29. I agree Bush has been a strong leader!
He's led us into an ill-advised war for his personal reasons. He's led us into the biggest decline in jobs since Herbert Hoover. He's led us to be hated by the majority of the world. He's led us to lower incomes. He's led us to the destruction of natural resources.

He's been a strong leader in the WRONG DIRECTION

With all he's spent, he's not only even in the polls, but he's also even with Kerry in $$ in the bank. This plays right into the DNC's hands.
