The Government notes that the independent Commission is unable to provide sufficient positive assurance, in the time available, in relation to using the chosen system of electronic voting at the June elections. The Government has decided that the electronic voting system will not be used at the June polls. These will be conducted in all constituencies on the basis of the traditional paper ballot. Arrangements will be in place to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the polls on June 11th.

2. question for you
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 11:47 AM by tigereye
my son said there was graffiti in the boys bathroom at his school that said BBV. It is a progresive school, so I thought it might be related to this BBV stuff I keep hearing about. What exactly does it mean? Does it refer to the company that makes electronic voting machines?

It is funny, only at my son's hippie school would they have this type of graffiti!

4. Black Box Voting - it refers to all electronic voting systems that
don't allow scrutiny of their software. See

A lot of the BBV streetfighting is reported here at DU.

Join up with a group you are comfortable with -- a noisy one, or a quiet one -- or just become an independent insurgent and get to know your elected officials a little better, by letters, by phone calls, and by attending public meetings.

6. having paper receipts on e-voting machines is useless
Edited on Fri Apr-30-04 04:30 PM by narcjen
In most states, recounts of paper ballots only occur if election results are close. The message to those who want to rig elections is, "rig them by a lot." The paper receipt solution on e-voting machines is thus easily defeated.

100% paper ballots are the only way to go.
