The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on the status of investigation
The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, of which Senator Feinstein is a member, today is holding a closed door briefing on the status of investigations into these allegations. Following are remarks she made earlier today on CNN:

“First of all, not only is this unacceptable, but it's deplorable and it casts a pall of shame worldwide over what the United States says versus what it does.

I think we want to know, how deep is this? How many incidents? What was the chain of command?

Clearly, the behavior had to be acceptable enough for people participating to take pictures of it and then to show their pictures around. This indicates to me that there was not an appropriate command presence. It should have been stopped.

I was surprised when General Meyers went on television this Sunday and said he hadn't read the two star General's report. I was surprised when Mr. Rumsfeld came before the entire Senate last

, the day this was on CBS, with the Pentagon delaying the CBS broadcast, and didn't tell the Senate anything about it.

We need to send Sen Fienstein an Email thanking her for sharing her thoughts on what she discovered

4. One prisoner bringing a lawsuit spoke on "Hardball",...
,...and, I am telling you, I nearly fainted. The shit that was being done to these people who hadn't even been charged with ANYTHING, many of whom were apparently INNOCENT of doing anything wrong, is worse than any word I can even find to describe such a thing.

No wonder the neo-coverup-cons are running around like their hair is on fire trying to do "damage control".

3. Congressional Reaction to Abuse Scandal
I am no fan of Trent Lott, obviously, but I saw him on Anderson Cooper 360 actually expressing something close to real anger about the fact that Congress was COMPLETELY out of the loop on this report. Of course, he deflected all blame away from Rummy, but it is interesting to see that the Congressional Republicans seem to be criticizing the White House on this issue, not very vigorously, but still, this in and of itself is amazing. I really think that maybe this latest in the constant avalanch of disgraceful acts by Bush's regime may be the final nail in the coffin of his presidency. This nonsense has got to stop, and at a certain point it is impossible for even peabrains to ignore.

7. Didn't Rumsfeld deny seeing the report publicly
And also did not mention to the senate select committee any thing about it. Then today it comes out he held off the media from printing the story for 2 weeks.

What Senator Fienstien is saying here is Rumsfeld with held information from the Senate Select Committee and lied to the American public

9. Minor
A few minor folk will be reprimanded or court martialed. Next week it will have blown over to be replaced with another exciting news story.

It is highly doubtful that the Congress will take this to where it should be taken: Criminal charges of the higher ups incl. Rummy, VP and Resident.
