Washington Post Holding Iraqi Abuse Photos
Edited on Mon May-10-04 04:06 PM by impeachbushnow
Washington Post Holding Iraqi Abuse Photos after a request from the Pentagon. Sources at the Washington Post tell FoSho Flash the photos won't be delayed much longer as the management is ready to release 'some, if not all' of the images within a few days. Management at the post agreed to delay the release after a 'understanding' that the Pentagon would be releasing the images to news outlets.

1. When in US history did a major newspaper
ever sit on a scoop, because the government asked them to? So much for having a free press, what a joke.

11. I've been wondering if asking CBS to delay pics had more to do with...
Edited on Mon May-10-04 05:04 PM by pbl
The Supreme Court hearings regarding the detainees than the protection of the soldiers.

13. For valid National Security reasons is one thing
However, the only people whose national security is endangered by the release of these pictures is the Bu$h cabal. Obviously, Myers has put the interests of the WH ahead of the interests of the American people. Maybe someone should send him a copy of that oath he took, to protect and defend the USA, not to protect the Bu$h Cabal.

8. not only is this not unprecedented
it is fairly common. There is a case to be made for the rights of the accused here, additionally, there is also a case tobe made regarding the safety of soldiers currently in Iraq. These photos will be shown and the American people will know what Bush and his criminal gang are responsible for, but the word here is "responsible" journalism.

(I'm just trying to be reasonable here and to resist the inclination to go completely tin hat).

12. WW II
they did not publish photos of casualties in the field of battle

It was bad for morale at the home front and they had the argument in the open.

The photos emerged years after the war.

See Utah Beach et al

There is a difference though, these photos are photos of War Crimes

15. Since the WP was about to have an orgasm about going to war
They have a vested interest in it "turning out well". Whoever leaked the photos to them made a very very bad choice.

It is now a whore rag.

16. Yet another reason that I no longer bother reading the Post
Their credibility has long since been shot. Even read the NY Times must be read with a jaundiced eye, these days- due in no small part to their weak response to Judith Miller's behavior.

Sad, but true.

17. we just continue to suffer shame
in every facet of our government and of our pride . :-(

We are nothing but used car salesmen and phonies. We are con men. We say one thing and do another--and that is known as hypocrisy, and further, we are PROUD that we are hypocrites

and thousands are dead, because we cannot and do not want the power, the intellectual power and the political power, to question a mad man, who was not elected in the first place,a nd was "couped" inot office by a corrupt bunch of supercilious assholes known as the Supreme Court.

It is time to get out the pitchforks--and if you do not have one, go to the hardware store and buy one--

We have got to stop this. It is NOT acceptable to let this madman continue in office. He is not capable, is out of his league and has led us into the filth of a quagmire in Iraq where our soldiers have died, where thousands of innocents have died, and where our soldiers have been '"turned" into animals--while he , during wartime, went AWOL

Thjis is unacceptable, dammit

what is the matter with people? We need to shut down this government and this country ,storm the White House, and insist that he take his stupid box of doorknobs, Laura, out of here.

He is a hopeless, incompetant, he is in over his head, he is stupid and he is running our beloved country into the ground

We are HATED all over the world because of this goddam idiot.

Storm the White House.

If we don't, no one else will.

until FoSho flash builds a reputation as a credible news source, it's not a verifiable Late Breaking News source. It can be used in GD or other forums, but not here.
