AP: Laura Bush Appears in Internet Ad

By RON FOURNIER and LIZ SIDOTI, Associated Press Writers

WASHINGTON - First lady Laura Bush has a starring role in a groundbreaking Internet ad blitz her husband's re-election campaign will launch Wednesday.

The former librarian promotes President Bush (news - web sites)'s education policies in a commercial being placed on about three dozen Internet sites, many of which cater to Internet-savvy women who are watching less television.

"I know what it's like to teach," Laura Bush told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "I know how difficult it is, and also how fulfilling it is."

She dismissed critics of Bush's education policies, saying much of the carping "sounds like excuses to me."

1. 'Sounds like excuses to me'
That's right, you inner city kids just have to get your parents to work harder so you can afford a prep school like my Georgie! Now, no more excuses!

2. she is so unbelievably stupid
They're not excuses, you dimwit woman. They are simple facts about the horrible way your worthless excuse for a husband has run this country (or run it into the ground).

4. Bunch of crap
sure she knows how to teach. Oh please. She did it after all for a year or two before becoming a school librarian.
All toll, she worked probably three years before she met
Bush and married into the family wealth. After that, she quit working at all. LOL and that was thirty or so years ago.

Oh please, spare us Laura. You stink.

she spent in a public school ..

28. She has no clue what the real world is like
Otherwise, she would know that the "carping" is a lot more than excuses. It's from people who are concerned about Bush woefully underfunding the education programs. Bush's plan all along has been to drive the public school system into the ground.

8. No Respect

I have absolutely no respect for this woman's teaching credentials.

She taught a total of three years at two different school districts. She taught one year in Dallas and two in Houston. She then went back to school to get her masters in library science and worked as a librarian for two different library systems, first for public libraries in Houston and then for Dawson Elementary in Austin. Of course at that point she met the Shrub, married him, and became a robot.

Laura is also on record as saying that when she began teaching, she realized how unprepared she was and that she found it extremely hard. Given her record and short duration as a teacher, I'd say she simply couldn't cut it. She has a lot of nerve offering any criticism of any sort of the educational system.

9. Did she ever really teach in a classroom?
I thought I had read she really hadn't done much.. or maybe any real teaching. Perhaps she means Sunday school?

She's an idiot if she supports Bush's education policies.. Geez.. I can't even think of any REAL policies that man has had. She's puppet, just like her husband..

10. Wait tell teachers hear that one

She is an airhead.
Just wait until the teachers unions hear that she said "sounds like excuses to me." Woo!

"No Child Gets Ahead" should be the name of this sorry crap.
Teachers know that it is under funded and does not work! They have tried it and it does not work!

Now Laura the Librarian, if my memory serves me correctly, was in a small town in Texas. Help me if I'm wrong. She acts like she was running the Library of Congress. She knows next to nothing about teaching, probably learned how to read a story to a class of 20 little darlings that listened to the teacher. She may or may not know how to check in books.

How can she tell any body what teaching in stressful situations is like? Let me pick a few schools for her to visit and read a story to a class. She wouldn't last one day.

I have also heard that when she goes on her little school "photo ops" that her office must clear every word that every one at the school will say to her-from principals on down. I was shocked when I heard that but it is true. Nazi Laura

16. someone reported to me that they saw Laura at a gas station and
Edited on Tue May-11-04 07:37 PM by Marianne
she was putting the air hose into her ear, instead of into the tires of her car.

and, lo and behold, the other side of her head looked as though it was being blown out because her hair was being blown around as she applied the air hose to her ear, as if the air went right through one side of her head and out the other side. Did not seem to bother her at all.

LOL

How could a librarian marry an illiterate, and not teach him to read at some point?

22. Well, as Education Sec. Paige said, we teachers are all terrorists, so...
if we complain any more about these endless tests, they may burst into the schools with their dogs, strip us all naked and make us perform homosexual acts on each other. That's what we terrorists deserve for all our "excuses."

Stupid, stupid woman!

27. The teachers in my family...
were discussing NCLB on Mother's Day. The 3 of them (sister, brother-in-law, and niece) were all outraged at the stupid law and what it's doing to their jobs and their schools.

Maine had a very strong Learning Results program and NCLB requires them to lower standards and penalize the schools that were doing fantastic jobs.

Laura is an embarrassment to educated women, I'm sorry to say.
