U.S. Military Bars Iraq Interrogation Methods
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. military, amid a scandal over abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib jail, has banned of several interrogation methods in Iraq, including sleep and sensory deprivation and body "stress positions," defense officials said on Friday.

The officials, briefing reporters on condition of anonymity, said these techniques previously required high-level approval from the U.S. military leadership in Iraq, but now will be prohibited completely. The officials said the decision was made on Thursday by the top U.S. commander in Iraq, Lt. Gen. Ricardo Sanchez.

The officials refused to say the methods were barred because they were onerous or violated the Geneva Convention governing the treatment of prisoners of war.

2. Did we not know this would happen? Every thing pointed towards it.
It was just set up if you go back and read. The anything goes and they are all evil. You could count on it.

5. I'm happy this came out and impressed at the outrage leading to change.
BUT, it is too little too late and there is much more (apparently) to spill out.

WHO THE F published the approved "interrogation" list?

WHO THE F created an environment for such atrocities (I'll give y'all one guess on that one and it can include a faction)?

8. Oh yeah, we were just getting around to that
Yeah, to banning that stuff, it was here on my desk . . . here it is, stress positions.

Interesting how it was just the actions of a few, and now they're changing a policy. Hmmm.

9. Quite an Admission Embedded Here
> The officials, briefing reporters on condition of anonymity, said these techniques
> previously required high-level approval from the U.S. military leadership in Iraq

Does this not rather implicate "the U.S. military leadership in Iraq" as a whole in these war crimes?
