Abuse scandal focuses on Bush Foundation:

Abuse Scandal Focuses on Bush Foundation

(AP) - The Iraq prisoner abuse scandal shifted Sunday to the question of whether the Bush administration set up a legal foundation that opened the door for the mistreatment. Within months of the Sept. 11 attacks, White House counsel Alberto Gonzales reportedly wrote President Bush a memo about the terrorism fight and prisoners' rights under the Geneva Conventions. "In my judgment, this new paradigm renders obsolete Geneva's strict limitations on questioning of enemy prisoners and renders quaint some of its provisions," Gonzales wrote, according to the report in Newsweek magazine. I am staggered at the evil of this administration. When do we impeach?

4. i pray to God you're wrong.
because about the only thing that could save their sad sorry asses now would be an attack. i'm surprised we haven't gone orange yet. or is it yellow? i always get them mixed up, but it's been a while since we've had any changes, and considering the problems we've been having, isn't anybody curious as to why the change in sensitivity?

3. Impeachment is a bad idea
...right now, as the line of succession is to Cheney then Hastert.

I'd rather we get rid of this bunch of radical trash and then, once Bush no longer holds pardon power, charge, humiliate, try, convict and imprison the lot of them.

This is the very least we need to do to get the US position in the world back.

8. You're right. Impeachment really would NOT be a good idea.
*sigh*

The whole bunch of them must be subjected to justice, though. I mean, their freakin' war criminals and have acted contrary to the laws of this nation in their own self-interests. They have breached their duties to the American people and damaged our nation terribly.

7. Remember, the Nuremburg trials were convened under the auspices
of the Geneva Convention. We are signatories to that treaty, ergo, war crimes tribunals against the United States can be convened anywhere that signatories to the Geneva Conventions choose. The Hague would be conveneient because the World Court is already there.

Remember too, under the constitution, the Geneva Conventions are a part of United States Federal law as well.

Nope, Shrubbo could be facing trial for war crimes. There is evidence of a conspiracy to violate the Geneva Conventions. The Geneva Conventions were violated. It's an open and shut case.

10. Retro poll: 39% favor impeachment
http://www.commondreams.org/news2004/0511-08.htm
It's a beautiful thing.
Retro polls are a beautiful thing. http://www.retropoll.org/ I learned about them from a FAIR report.

And, 46% favor an independent investigation of the U.S. role in the overthrow of Haiti's democratically elected president, Juan Bertrand Aristide.

11. OMG...check this out from Newsweek..the truth is OUT!
But a NEWSWEEK investigation shows that, as a means of pre-empting a repeat of 9/11, Bush, along with Defense Secretary Rumsfeld and Attorney General John Ashcroft, signed off on a secret system of detention and interrogation that opened the door to such methods. It was an approach that they adopted to sidestep the historical safeguards of the Geneva Conventions, which protect the rights of detainees and prisoners of war. In doing so, they overrode the objections of Secretary of State Colin Powell and America's top military lawyers

13. We MUST protect our country, even if we destroy it to do so!! Idiots...
The founding fathers of our country would sh*t on these Repuke Nazi scum if given the chance.

Orwell would be proud of their twisted logic of destroying freedom to protect it.

It's getting close to revolution time in the old US folks!

12. Isn't this the same Gonzales that they were hoping to put on the fed court
Boy, it sure is reassuring to see that beatings, anal rape, death, and other tortures are now "quaint" in the Bushies' eyes.

THESE PEOPLE ARE FOCKIN' NAZIS. PERIOD.

15. Beats me
what do we do?

Obviously, our troops have gone crazy. Obviously there are privatized influences at work here. Obviously something is very wrong. And, obviously, something needs to be addressed.
Ovviously the Bush administration , all of them ,are going to deny anything is wrong.

Obviouslyu the Democrats in congress are mum--Mum's the word, because a great majority of them voted to give Bush this blank check to do with it whatever he wanted

and obviously our front runner has NOTHING to say about the whole thing.

What on earth is wrong with this country? Does everybody just hang back from any kind of criticism of the boy Bush?

We suffer through Bush's tyranny and we have nothing to hang our hat on. They are all the same?
