Will Vilsack join John Kerry? (Vilsack will not seek 3rd term - IA)
June 1 - Could a local politician soon find himself on a national party ticket?

That possibility grew stronger after Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack announced he will not seek a third term as Iowa's governor.

Vilsack has been rumored to be on John Kerry's short-list for a possible running mate.

very short text of newscast - the only source I've foudn for this.

I hate to see him not run again - Iowa needs him.

1. I don't know, but if Vilsak married a Vlasik
he'd be in a pickle.

2. Yeah.
I'd rather he be bashed for going back on his word and seek another term. It's going to take awhile to recover from bushonomics. The last thing we need right now is a goddamn neocon running things into the ground. Terry Braindead was enough.

As much as I like TV as guv, no way does he have enough charisma for VP to help Kerry. Edwards or Clark. No one else.

Vilsack's stay in the governor's mansion could be shorter than expected if he becomes the Democratic vice presidential nominee or wins an appointment under a Democratic president.

If Vilsack leaves office midterm, Lt. Gov. Sally Pederson would be first in line to take over until 2006, giving her an advantage if she chooses to run. Pederson hasn't disclosed her plans for 2006.

"We have an election in November, and I think that's what people ought to be talking about," she said through a spokeswoman.

9. Didn't someone post a poll a couple of days ago that showed that he
actually lost a couple of points for Kerry in Iowa???

This would be a most ridiculous choice if it happened. We don't need a lightweight in the VP spot...
