50 held after US man killed - Liberia
Monrovia - The director-general of Liberia's police on Wednesday announced about 50 people, including police officers, had been arrested after the murder last week of a United States national.

Some of the suspects are in custody, including four people who were apparently directly involved in the crime, and others were being questioned, said François Massaquoi, but the main suspect was on the run.

John Auffrey, 44, a civilian employee of the US department of defence, was found dead in his Monrovia hotel room, where he was staying during a trip to study the restoration of security in post-war Liberia, according to Pentagon officials.

The prime suspect, 23-year-old Emmanuel Mulbah, a supporter of Liberia's former president Charles Taylor, had fled with help and information from some members of the police force, Massaquoi told a press conference.

John Auffrey didn't come up in a DU search. How was this not reported a week ago?
