Chalabi: Tenet 'Behind Charges' of Leaks
NAJAF, Iraq - Iraqi politician Ahmad Chalabi accused CIA director George Tenet on Thursday of being responsible for allegations that the former exile leader passed intelligence information to Iran.

Chalabi, a former member of the Iraqi Governing Council, made the accusation after President Bush announced that Tenet was stepping down as CIA director for personal reasons.

Tenet's announcement came amid new storms over intelligence issues, including an alleged Pentagon leak of highly classified intelligence to Chalabi.

Chalabi told reporters that Tenet "was behind the charges against me that claimed that I gave intelligence information to Iran. I denied these charges and I will deny them again."

In Washington, a U.S. law enforcement official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the FBI is examining whether Pentagon officials who had frequent contacts with Chalabi may have leaked sensitive information that U.S. intelligence had broken Iran's secret communications codes.

1. Which liar lies least?
With the Bush crew, the moral leprosy is more than skin deep.

21. So Admin. points the finger at Tenet, Tenet points the finger at Chalabi
Edited on Thu Jun-03-04 01:53 PM by Dover
and Chalabi points the finger at Tenet, Iran says they never received any intel from ANYONE, Bush points the finger at himself (this was a mistake...no one had instructed him yet about how to point), and Wilson pointed the finger at Tenet..but not at Powell...Rumsfeld is pointing the finger at Pentagon underlings (the "old military"), and Cheney is simply keeping quiet. Have I left anyone out? Surely there's more.

3. Yes, yes, yes!
This is what I'd hoped would happen. Chalabi accuses Tenet, who is "fired" by Bush, therefore linking Bush even closer to the accused double agent.

You keep talking, Chalabi. :toast:

11. Yes, keep talking Chalabi...two weeks ago he mentioned after the raid..
...that the raid and accusations were all the result of George Tenets desire to get him....

I'm willing to bet that Tenet doesn't want to have any part of what is coming down the pike and to let Bush Co. implode...

20. No reason we can't change the pronounciation slightly - actually I kind of
like that: chalabi - (rhymes with alibi) - (1) a false story to promote an agenda (2) a false alibi

8. Should listen to former CIA analyst Ray McGovern...
he states he is more afraid now than at any other time he can remember because he believes this admin will do something legally to remain in office come November and have shot the opening salvo, in fact, with Asscroft's earlier release of possible high terrorist attack this summer.

He states that Tenant is the sacrifical lamb because they are not ready to get rid of anyone else and know they must provide someone to the public for all the stink.

I think jobycom may have hit the nail on the head earlier. This mp3 download covers Chalabi, Tenent and more! A must listen from Democracy NOW!

16. I think Tenet, himself, made the decision to resign..and NOT at the behest
of the Administration. Tenet isn't done yet...he's just creating the distance he needs to finish the job. Maybe a Tell-all book or some incriminating info that wouldn't be kosher to give out while still receiving a Bushco paycheck.
