Goldilocks Economy Could Be Pure Fantasy
Interesting take on the state of the "economic recovery." If I'm reading it correctly, the author seems to think it's all going to crap out in the 3rd quarter...

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=568&ncid=749&e=1&u=/nm/20040605/bs_nm/column_stocks_week_dc

Excerpt:

A not-too-hot and not-too-cold economic story has warmed the hearts of Wall Street investors for months.

Stocks rose Friday after the release of a long-awaited jobs report that showed an economy that still isn't growing fast enough to require drastic tightening by Alan Greenspan (news - web sites)'s Federal Reserve.

But Wall Street's Goldilocks tale might need a bit of revising soon, and maybe Britney Spears could take the starring role. Like Spears, who was asked by the Chinese government not to dress too hot on her concert tour there next year, investors may want to turn down the heat.

"There's going to be earnings disappointments coming by the third quarter," said Peter Wall, chief investment strategist for Chase Personal Financial Services. "We don't think the forecasts that are out there reflect the changes in the economy."

<snip>

The summer will probably continue to be a relatively robust period, Kalinowksi said. Good news will continue to flow with the second-quarter results -- due out in July. But starting in the third-quarter results period at summer's end, things will get stickier. The bad news could start to arrive as early as August, when companies start giving bearish forecasts for their third-quarter results, he added.

After the hot summer, things could be set to cool down.

1. Why no 'Whore' analysis of where our Economy would be if continued Clinton
Edited on Sat Jun-05-04 02:55 PM by dArKeR
's growth pattern? Why no word of the terrible suffering for 3.5 years and only the 'Whore' media talks about real or fictious small recovery now? Why no 'Whore' talk about Bush incompetence for 3.5 years and why it took so long to begin a small recovery? Why no 'Whore' talk of Bush spending Billion$ of dollars on Military Industrial Complex products which are 3 to 1 less productive than the same money invested into the private sector? The first thing we learned in Economics class is $1 dollar invested in the Military is equal to $3-2 dollars invested in the private sector. Are Americans not cable of understanding such a basic principle of fact?

Lastly, I believe there is Racketeering Collusion between the Bush/GOP Crime Family and the American Immoral GOP Corporate structure. Bush promised Billion$ in tax cuts and illegal no bid contracts if the Immoral Corporations would hire employees just before the election to bolster Bush's Bubble Economy. With Billion$ in tax cuts, which Americans are paying for at the local level, what's a few million for the Immoral Corporations to 'Invest' to attempt to inflate Bush?

2. For sure, PPI and CPI figures are cooked. Strange that the M-3 money
supply record-smashing number wasn't altered.

3. There is no doubt they lie about inflation.
Last year they said that housing costs only increased by 2% and healthcare only by 5%. That is sheer fantasy.

4. Hmmm. I smell.....
....books cooking.

Not surprising, given the book-burning propensities of the kind of people that support this excrescence of an administration!
