Venus about to make Sun passage

5 June, 2004

The planet Venus is set to make a very rare passage across the face of the Sun

Tuesday's six-hour transit has not been witnessed for 122 years and observers will position themselves in Europe, Asia and Africa to get the best view.

Scientists will use the event to test technologies they will soon deploy to detect similar sized worlds orbiting stars tens of light-years away.

Venus will appear as a tiny black disc against our star but no one should look for it without the proper equipment.

The following link http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/transit/TV2004.html (Transit Contact Times for Cities Around the World) has the tables for viewing times around the world.

4. I believe it will be visible
in some parts of the US, at around sunrise.

We won't get to see the whole transit. I think it will be about half way across by the time the sun comes up on the east coast.

8. Astrological Significance of Venus Transit
Here are some good links about the Venus Transit, and how it will affect the US.

"The “Venus Transit” a very rare occurrence where the planet Venus passes between the Earth and Sun, kind of like an eclipse. These “Venus Transits” or eclipses come in pairs, separated by 8 years minus 2 days, and have always had to do with some kind globalization. No one alive has seen one of these transits. Beginning with

1518 (1526) In Gemini) Magellan navigated the globe, expanding consciousness
1631 (1639) In Sagittarius) 1st national mail service begun in Denmark and Sweden
1761 (1769) In Gemini) Astronomers set up a study for this event and needed to use astronomers from all over the world for collaboration so they could measure the distance to the Sun.
1874 (1882) In Sagittarius) Bell’s first idea of the telephone, the founding of the World Post Union, the completion of the Atlantic telegraph cable opening up global communications.
2004 (2012) In Gemini) to be written. (Since I wrote this the Mexican Air Force photographed UFO’s)

It would appear that the Venus eclipse when in Gemini relates to “land or cosmos discovery” with a resultant shift in expanded consciousness, mass enlightenment. The eclipses in Sagittarius relates to inventions that would “connect” us with our discoveries."

-----------

"What does Venus’ close juxtaposition to Sun mean? On the one hand, it can mean that the brilliance of the sun obscures Venus, preventing its full expression. On the other hand, it can mean that Venus gets a dose of solar vitality, which aids her creative nature. Pay attention now to your inner feelings about those things which are important to you. They are changing.

Venus and Sun join at 18 Gemini. This is a crucial area for both GW Bush and for the United States. The U.S. Mars, and much of Bush’s energy is involved. Unpredictable Uranus, the destiny point of North Node, and Bush’s progressed Midheaven—his place in the world—are all involved. Furthermore, Pluto in Sagittarius, the inexorable Lord of Evolution, opposes this big collection of Gemini energy. Could Bush be assassinated, re Tecumseh’s curse? Yes. On the other hand, he has a great deal of Jupiterian protection.

The Venus-Sun transit itself shows three planets at the same degree, which is the degree of the U.S. Mars and of Bush’s planets. Those three planets are powerful, ruthless Pluto, aggressive Mars, and Vesta, the Keeper of the Hearth. Strong defense will be on everyone’s minds, including in interpersonal relationships."

14. I like the part about "mass enlightenment",...
,...since I had a "wake-up" dream (1/11/03) where I was standing on the "edge" (a weird dream thingy, ya' know) of the world proclaiming; "This is the 'Age of Awareness'. You and I and all of us,...are a part of THAT. It's wonderful!"

Dreams can be so,...cool.

Nightmares,...suck (especially if you are awake *sigh*).

30. I have good news for you, 28.
I started looking into astrology when Bush hijacked the White House. I couldn't believe it. There had to be some answers, I thought.

Astrology does provide us with a lot of answers. Of course, what I REALLY wanted was for someone to tell me that Bush and his Barracudas would be evicted any day now. That's why I read it. It's just one way of making sense in an out-of-control world.

Here are my recommendations:

Go to the 'meeting room' (here at the DU). You'll see many astrology threads. Our resident astrologer Nancy, has lots of interesting information. There is a really nice group of people who contribute.

On the web:

http://www.astrologyworld.com
This site has lots of political astrology. Meaning, they try to make sense of what is going on right now and provide predictions.

You can find lots of links on this website for other astrologers. Of course, you can search the internet. Look under 'mundane astrology' or 'political astrology' for predictions.

of him....and hoping......that there is something in the stars that says he will be gone.....and that there is hope on the horizon.... of course. ... I have found sites that are for and against. People proving he will be re elected and those proving he will not...

Never been to meeting room....just assumed everything popped up in latest... I will go look....Thanks

22. Or maybe an English or Indian writer will die
1518: Kabir, Indian poet, died http://www.heall.com/soul/poetry/kabir.html

1631: John Donne, English poet, died http://www.tornbjerg-gym.dk/roholt/MODULI/donne.htm

1761: Samuel Richardson, pioneering English novellist, died http://www.umich.edu/~ece/student_projects/pamela_illustrated/richardson.htm

1874: Madhusudan Dutt, Indian poet, died http://www.telegraphindia.com/1031102/asp/opinion/story_2516820.asp

Probably a better fit, since Magellan's voyage (strictly his crew, since he died before completing it) was 1519-1522 - http://www.neta.com/~1stbooks/chron1.htm . And Denmark's postal service was established in 1624 - http://www.posti.fi/postimuseo/verkkonayttelyt/nordisk/sivut/english/Denmark/period1/index.html . And Sweden's postal service was established in 1636 - http://www.posti.fi/postimuseo/verkkonayttelyt/nordisk/sivut/english/Sweden/period1/3.html .

Do you think we could find coincidences like this all day? Especially if we allowed a few years leeway, like your first reference did?

I wonder if this has anything to do with it - I really enjoyed reading this. Someone posted a link to it a while back.

...From that 1987 date until now, Mr. Barrios says, we have been in a time when the right arm of the materialistic world is disappearing, slowly but inexorably. We are at the cusp of the era when peace begins, and people live in harmony with Mother Earth. We are no longer in the World of the Fourth Sun, but we are not yet in the World of the Fifth Sun. This is the time in-between, the time of transition.

As we pass through transition there is a colossal, global convergence of environmental destruction, social chaos, war, and ongoing Earth changes. All this, Mr. Barrios says, was foreseen via the simple, spiral mathematics of the Mayan calendars. "It will change," Mr. Barrios observes. "Everything will change." He said Mayan Daykeepers view the Dec. 21, 2012 date as a rebirth, the start of the World of the Fifth Sun. It will be the start of a new era resulting from and signified by the solar meridian crossing the galactic equator, and the earth aligning itself with the center of the galaxy. At sunrise on December 21, 2012 for the first time in 26,000 years the Sun rises to conjunct the intersection of the Milky Way and the plane of the ecliptic. This cosmic cross is considered to be an embodiment of the Sacred Tree, The Tree of Life, a tree remembered in all the world´s spiritual traditions. Some observers say this alignment with the heart of the galaxy in 2012 will open a channel for cosmic energy to flow through the earth, cleansing it and all that dwells upon it, raising all to a higher level of vibration.

32. don't believe in astrology but
am struck that now astronomers world wide are setting up to measure changes in light received from the sun as the planet passes in front so that they'll be better able to detect similar worlds orbiting extra-solar worlds. another "broadening", and, very similar astromonical interest like the last passing while in gemini.

10. That's not entirely a joke
As a four year old kid, I watched part of a solar eclipse and now have a permanent retinal burn on my right eye, so that if I hold a dime at arm's length, I can't see any detail on it. I was lucky; I know of a young lady who watched a later eclipse for a much longer time and lost 60% of her vision in both eyes.

The thing will be almost too small to see anyway, even if I wanted to. Wait for the pics to show up online that afternoon.

12. Venus (love) conjuncts Sun (power)...
It will bring the feminine and male energies together, Venus will bring a harmonious vibe to earth overshadowing the prevalent energy of power that has been witnessed lately. Womens issues will be at the front of the world consciousness and a spirit of love and abundance should reign... It should be subtle at first but shall gain momentum in the coming 8 years. The womans suffrage movement came into being the last time this aspect happened. Lets hope for the best...
Best yet, a woman could be destined to gain huge power in the next couple of years...
if we don't blow the planet apart first...

13. A bit more...
From the link above...

~snip~
"When Venus turns direct on June 29, she is at 10 Gemini, very close to the natal U.S. Uranus at 9 Gemini. Historically, Uranus has been a warlike energy for the U.S. In terms of diplomacy, one of Venus’ areas, it means independence, not compromise.

This degree also squares (activates) GW’s natal Mars and his progressed Sun, which is now conjoining his natal Mars. All in all, it’s a great deal of energy for him to handle and still maintain any semblance of balance.

In the chart set for Washington DC at Venus’ direct station, Pluto is rising. Yes, as with the Mayans, armies could march.

This Venus does have fighting spirit. And we can use that spirit to fight for the good."
~snip~

This is a great deal of energy in GW's chart and could be why he has been so warlike... let's hope that Venus will soften him a bit...

Maybe, the "armies" marching are outside the obvious e.g. not the armies being directed by Dubya.

Just a thought,...from the mind of a single momma in the folds of the Appalachias.

23. Clinton definitely has a more positive message
that the world is ready to hear. It's just what we need right now.

I think most folks are sick and tired of Bu$h's message of doom and gloom. The tough, arrogant, rhinestone cowboy bit is getting old.

It is time for humanity to step up and for all of us to say, we can do better.

BTW: I've read that the Transit of Venus marks the end of the Age of Pisces and the beginning of the Age of Aquarius. I sure hope so.

25. The reason * will suffer by comparison to Reagan
Jr can overdo clinging to Reagan's coatails. Why:

I think most folks are sick and tired of Bu$h's message of doom and gloom. The tough, arrogant, rhinestone cowboy bit is getting old.

Reagan, for those who liked him, made people feel good about themselves. Jr isn't doing that. I don't think all the Ronnie worship goin on will in the end not be a help to *. He's too much doom and gloom.

26. I agree
the Bu$hies weren't all that thrilled about Ronnie in life or death. Some people event think that Bu$h Sr had a hand in Reagan's assassination attempt.

Besides, W hates it when someone or something takes the spotlight off of himself. This was supposed to be a great photo op weekend for him. He would get to look presidential and important meeting the Pope, Chirac and doing D Day.

Now people are looking at this clown and looking at Reagan, and even to a lifelong liberal, Reagan looks great compared to W.

Yeah, I don't get it either. But he does compare badly to Reagan, so
Reagan post-mortem deification may backfire on Jr.

One can hope, anyway.
