Iraqis Paying 5 Cents a Gallon for Gas
Ever wonder what Bush is spending our $87 billion on?

snip

Although Iraq is a major petroleum producer, the country has little capacity to refine its own gasoline. So the U.S. government pays about $1.50 a gallon to buy fuel in neighboring countries and deliver it to Iraqi stations. A three-month supply costs American taxpayers more than $500 million, not including the cost of military escorts to fend off attacks by Iraqi insurgents.

The arrangement keeps a fleet of 4,200 tank trucks constantly on the move, ferrying fuel to Iraq.

"We thank the Americans," Baghdad taxi driver Osama Hashim said. "They risked their lives to liberate us and now they are improving our lives," said Hashim, 26, topping up the tank on his beat-up 1983 Volkswagen.

And while it hasn't improved OUR lives to pay the rest of the cost of your gas, it does improve Bush's chances of losing the next election! By the way, have you got your electricty and running water back?

2. Wow, that's almost...
...fuel socialism. Think it'll be enough to stop them killing US troops? But I betcha the companies that are selling it are getting a BIG ASS subsidy courtesy of the US taxpayer to pay for it at much more than 2 a gallon. Which basically means that if someone wanted to really screw with us, they could send a video tape of them just spouting gasoline all over the sand, and laughing. "I pay a nickel a gallon for this, but YOU pay the other $2.45. Thank you American taxpayer. This gasoline, it is me pissing on you, all over the Iraqi soil."
