Ohio Rep. wants Reagan on Rushmore
Found on the Raw Story, the liberal alternative to Drudge, http://www.rawstory.com

NBC: COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An Ohio state representative wants to see President Ronald Reagan's image added to Mount Rushmore.

Rep. Ron Young, R-Painesville, introduced a resolution Monday requesting Congress to add the former president's image to the South Dakota landmark.

Reagan died Saturday at the age of 93. He was the nation's 40th president, and is credited with putting an end to the Cold War with the Soviet Union.

"During the years of President Reagan, America laid to rest an era of division and self-doubt. Because of his leadership, the world laid to rest an era of fear and tyranny," Young said. "I conceived this idea some time ago, and had this resolution drafted and ready to introduce because I can think of no better way to honor the Great Communicator than to have his image added to Mount Rushmore."

3. I would be truly shocked if that were to happen.
There will be no national consensus on "great presidents" from Kennedy on out. The partisan gap is too broad. Reagan will not earn such a legacy.

4. It's Physically Impossible
Mt Rushmore is unstable rock and would only collapse.

He really needs to erect a statue of "Saint Ronnie" with an oversize phallus and jump backwards.

6. Same old silliness.
For starters...

*Who has the money for this sort of project?

*It would be an artistic travesty. No one should interfere with the current Mount Rushmore.

*It's a waste of time. Congress has bigger fish to fry.

*It's a historical travesty. Wait a few decades and then see how Reagan is regarded by historians. They didn't put up the Lincoln Memorial in 1866, for crying out loud.

16. But That's The Whole Point
Deep in the darkest recesses of their greedy, corrupt, three-sizes-too-small hearts, these pinheads KNOW history is going to pass very harsh judgement on "The Great Obfuscator", so they figure if they can get these idiotic ideas implemented BEFORE that happens, then it'll be all that much harder to reverse the damage they've done.

So far as I'm concerned the only appropriate monument to the late Mr. Reagan should be a giant statue in the shape of a jar of jellybeans, with some of his more colorful aphorisms (ie "Trees Cause Pollution", "Katsup is a vegetable") radiating outward from it's base. I'm sure some patriotic Amurkins would be willing to cough up a (non-Reaganized) $10 or $20 bill to assist in the effort...

34. Thanks for that one.
Still laughing.

Seriously, Reagan was the jackass they rode in on, these neo-cons. That is why they love him SO much. They are like Dr. Frankenstein and he is the monster, the puppet president that they pulled the strings for. No wonder they love him so much, he's like a stock car that won the neo-con 500, he was their great experiment that worked, and now it's the formula, and with Bush's loss to Clinton they know for sure they need a stupid president they can mold like Gumby and a smart and sneaky VP and cabinent to call all the shots.

and Young is a piece of work. He is a Christian Reconstructionist who is constantly finding something anti gay to try to pass. Of course he is against just about all government spending. He is out of the House in Jan 05 though due to term limits and is running for treasurer of Lake Co Ohio (just east of Cuyahoga on Lake Erie). The man is just horrible.

How about putting his face up near the Hollywood sign in L.A. Another possibility is in New Hampshire where the Old Man of the Mountain crashed.

IIRC, Reagan brought forth that despiccable James Watt, secretary of the Interior, that was a catalyst for decimating our national parks. I don't think so.
