Archbishop resigns over child-sex scandal
Adelaide - The Anglican archbishop of Adelaide resigned on Friday over a child sex abuse scandal involving members of his church.

Archbishop Ian George's announcement followed the publication last week of an independent report into the church's handling of up to 200 cases of child sex abuse over several years.

He was not personally accused of abuse, but was criticised for not dealing adequately with victims molested by church workers.

How long will it take for the Christian Missionaries in under developed countries to be brought to justice?

1. I am sure he opposes gay marriages, though, so he is good to go.
Hypocrisy, thy name is organized religion.

2. --and probly wouldn't give communion to Kerry
because of his choice stance.

4. Um... Adelaide is in Australia
Edited on Fri Jun-11-04 11:43 AM by SemperEadem
Kerry is Roman Catholic

The Anglican Church is the Church of England, which separated from the Catholic church in the 1530's... Henry VIII Tudor's contribution.

They wouldn't give Kerry communion because he's not a protestant.

6. Um .... so:
THIS Archbishop is Anglican .... and deeply involved with an organisation that violently uses children as sexual objects ...

And the OTHER church, the Catholic church, has ALSO been emboiled in such moral turpitude to an unbelievable degree as well ...

We can surmise this: members of BOTH the Anglican Church AND the Catholic church EQUALLY disregard a 'universal' precept that considers child rape irredeemably amoral....

Who needs a host when you have a lockable backroom in the manse ? ..

8. I don't see where my post disagreed with your point
perhaps you can point it out to me from what I've posted on this topic. I didn't address the child rape issue in my post.

I believe my post was pointing out the non sequitur to the previous poster that the Anglican church in Australia wouldn't give communion to Kerry because he isn't a protestant, not because of his position on "religious" issues.

10. As the originator of the non sequitur, I can only say,
Anglican. Adelaide. D'Oh.

9. Damn...first the Catholic churches now Anglican...what next!
Protestian, Lutherian, Presbyterian, Methodist, we know the Baptist church has many crooked things going on there.

When will people realize that "RELIGION IS A MAN MADE IDEA".

Every major war that has ever taken place, including the war in Iraq has always been over religion.

I'm sick and tried of being on the earth. Can't wait till it's time for me to check outta here. Will gladly go, no kicking and screaming here.
