6. Oh yeah, that is so tacky!
Far be it from the me-me-me crowd to tone down the festivities the DAY after they bury Reagan. Typical hypocrites.. why trouble their beautiful celebration with thoughts of death?

9. Not the day AFTER
but the bash at Enron Field was being held last night, at the exact sametime that Reagan was being buried in California. The festivities still have today and tomorrow, though.

With all the rush, maybe that's why Babs was already dressed in her white suit at the memorial service. Either that or her Navy unit got orders to be deployed.

Oh well, maybe they had it shown on the closed circuit "big board" and ran the little choo choo while the Repugs, ready to use Reagan's death were yelling "SCORE!!!"

edit: omg, they're having it at Enron Field! Now renamed Minute Maid Park, but it will always be Enron Field to me.

The festivities continue today with the celebration for 5,000 at Minute Maid Park and Sunday with Bush's parachute jump and barbecue in College Station.

Former President Bush Celebrates Birthday

Jun 12, 7:34 PM (ET)

By JUAN A. LOZANO

HOUSTON (AP) - More than 5,000 people were expected to help former President George H.W. Bush celebrate his 80th birthday Saturday night, part of a weekend of festivities to be topped with a skydive Sunday.

The skydive will be "very safe. It will be a thrill for me," the nation's 41st president said at a luncheon in his honor Saturday at the University of Texas' M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.

Bush has made four parachute jumps in his life - the first as a Navy pilot shot down over the Pacific during World War II. He has made the other jumps since leaving the White House more than a decade ago, including one on his 75th birthday.

<snip>

they're running this photo again too.

27. I don't get this "royalty" thing that Republicans appear to embrace
Reminds me of the former Shah of Iran and his outrageously self aggrandizing birthday parties.

And right after a coronation funeral for a former president that lasted 5 days and every second televised....much like the funeral processions of monarchs (in countries that have monarchs or dictators).

Republicans: I sincerely suggest that you get over yourselves. These displays are so gauche.
