'Fahrenheit' marketing will crank up the heat

NEW YORK — Fahrenheit 9/11, the controversial new film by Michael Moore, is being backed by a marketing campaign unprecedented for a documentary.

The film — expected to easily surpass the $21.6 million record take of Columbine— is getting a boost from the controversy over it.

The Bush administration has denounced the movie as outrageously false and Move America Forward, a conservative group formed last month, is trying to block the film's release. "Michael Moore has the right to free speech," MAF chairman Howard Kaloogian told Daily Variety. "But so do millions of Americans who find his anti-military propaganda and attacks on our troops offensive."

10. Why is it that these flakes all have to try censorship

when something comes out that they don't like? There are lots of films that come out every year that I don't like, and I make that known to the producers, et al, by keeping my money in my pocket. Why can't they do the same?

As for the Chimp & Shrubco denouncing it, they are such liars why would I believe anything they say? And since when is the truth an attack on our troops? I don't know about you, but I was paying attention over the last two months when all the info about Abu Ghraib and torture started to become more widespread, and I find torture offensive, especially when it was done by troops supposedly representing ME, and even moreso when one of the rationaliztions for the war was how much better than Saddam Hussein we are, because we don't torture our prisoners!

This is a documentary, folks. It contains actual footage of people doing actual things that actually happened. Which is a nightmare for the Bush people, who would prefer you live in their little fantasy world.

Want to know what bush says when he speaks to big-donor republicans?? Want to know what Barbara Bush thinks about US war casualties? Want to know what the leader of our country did in the 11 minutes after he learned about the second plane hitting the WTC????

Trying to get a film that has won the highest award at Cannes censored has NOTHING to do with Mr. Kaloogian's right to free speech. Asking people to censor something is NOT free speech--it is brown shirt tactics, intimidation, bullying and the despicable type of behavior we have come to expect from Republican bloviators.

Using the language like this has become a trademark of the Republican party. It is how they deliberately lie to the people--it is how so many people came to believe and still believe that SAddam Hussein had something to do with 9-11 and also had huge bands of terrorists after us.

I wonder how many stupid Americans will now think that it is their right of free speech to censor a legitimate item.
