Nuclear alert for SA
Graeme Hosken

The United Nations nuclear watchdog has issued a worldwide high-security alert warning countries, including South Africa, about the dangers of possible nuclear terrorism attacks.

Information given to the Pretoria News shows that the South African government's security agencies, including the police (SAPS), received several warnings from the International Atomic Energy Agency two weeks ago about the possible threat of a terrorist nuclear attack, either occurring in this country or being launched from it.

The warnings were issued by the IAEA on June 2 to all countries using nuclear power, or in possession of or manufacturing nuclear weapons - and gave advice on how to combat the smuggling of nuclear materials for "dirty bombs".

1. Watch Zimbabwe, its neighbor to the north...
I read last week about a connection between President Mugabe and al-Qaeda. The story reported that in 2000, Libyan President Qaddafi introduced al-Qaeda's Zacharwe(sp) to Zimbabwe President Mugabe.
Mugabe is becoming increasingly secretive and anti-western.
The story also mentioned that Zimbabwe would be a good place for al-Qaeda members to hide and to train because it is not a Muslim nation and therefore the last place one would look for Muslim terrorists.

5. and if we believe Ashcroft
they are being found here, too.

Maybe al-Qaeda leaders have been meeting with our president, too.

6. Would our president know an aQ leader if he did meet one?
He'd probably talk about seeing the depth of their good souls by looking into their eyes. Meanwhile, he'd kick Jesus in the groin for telling him to stop murdering the masses with tools of death.

4. before we get too hung up on stories about African countries
Edited on Wed Jun-16-04 11:53 AM by muriel_volestrangler
it's worth pointing out that the warning went to all nuclear-using countries, ie South Africa, USA, Russia, France, UK, Japan, etc. South Africa is singled out because this came from a South African newspaper.
