Sport Doping Suspect's Bid To Bush
The founder of a Bay Area lab at the center of a steroid scandal is seeking President Bush's help in negotiating a plea that would keep him out of prison and could implicate potential U.S. Olympians.

On Wednesday, U.S. sprinter Marion Jones — the subject of suspicions, but no formal allegations, of using banned substances — announced a press conference to make a "major announcement."

Victor Conte's attorney, Robert Holley, sent the letter Monday to Mr. Bush, Attorney General John Ashcroft and three federal prosecutors. The contents of the letter were first reported by the San Jose Mercury News and later confirmed by Holley to The Associated Press.

2. This is a weird story
Everybody is throwing everybody else under the bus. Not literally, mind you. No one will come in contact with any motor vehicle. I mean in a figurative sense that each person involved in the story is seeking to get someone else in trouble to avoid trouble themselves.

5. Um, why would any president get involved in this?
Really, is it that much of a concern to the nation? And if you broke the law, sorry, oh well for you.
