NY Times errs in Clinton book review
As seen on The Blue Lemur: http://bluelemur.com

Mediamatters.org, the new media watchdog site run by a conservative-cum-liberal, notes that the New York Times fails to make full disclosure about its own stake in the blistering review of President Clinton's "My Life."

"In her New York Times review of Hillary Rodham Clinton's memoir, Living History, Michiko Kakutani failed to inform readers that the book contained information contending that The New York Times' reporting on the so-called Clinton scandals was false and wrong. Kakutani made similar egregious omissions in her June 20 New York Times review of President Bill Clinton's memoir, My Life.

Bill Clinton is on record in a November 30, 2000, Oval Office interview with The New York Times saying the following about the newspaper: "You guys were wrong about Whitewater. I wish we had the -- that Gertz piece was ridiculous, absurd on its face. I wish we could have had the great New York Times without that."

In her review, Kakutani also falsely accused Clinton of telling "lies" about "real estate." The Whitewater real estate deal was investigated by the Resolution Trust Corporation and no less than three independent counsels with no findings of such purported Clinton "lies" about "real estate.""

Once again, it's up to David Brock to expose what liars work at the Screw York Times!

2. It's funny how David Brooks has gone from
It's funny how David Brooks has gone from dishonesty to honesty.

I wouldn't think a person could change that much, but so far, so good, since he wrote his confessional book.

4. Brooks has not, Brock has. I confuse the two myself.
Brooks still pens right wing screeds, albeit a bit more watered down from his days at the Weekly Standard, from his perch as a columnist for the New York Times. Brock, on the other hand, has seen the proverbial light and has devoted himself to exposing the endless river of lies flowing from the mouths of right wingers and their sycophantic media shills. Maybe someday Brooks too will be freed from the darkness.

5. "Failed to disclose" - LOL!
Word to the eager beavers at Media Matters: Kakutani has neither a connection to, nor an obligation to "disclose" anything about, NY Times reporting. Get real!

She's a justly famous book reviewer. She thinks Clinton's book mostly stinks. And while it's only one woman's opinion, she makes a pretty good case.

6. I'd say she is an overly famous book reviewer.
If she makes a pretty good case, what would that be ?

7. That does not excuse their lack of objectivity throughout.
The NYT does have an obligation--an ethical responsibility--to print the truth. In failing to do so it has violated its own representations to the American public. Its record vis-a-vis Clinton is abominable.

9. Never revealed that Whitewater was a lie they started, Still blame Clinton
for it - this self-plagiarizing bitch still chastizes him for not taking responsibility for Whitewater - among other things.

8. This trash was on page one, too. My letter to them:

To: public@ nytimes.com
Subject: "The pastiche of a presidency...." - June 20, 2004

I hope Kahutani didn't get paid for a new review - considering she recycled the vitriol she already sold you for Hillary's book.
If she did, you got ripped off - see for yourselves.

As for me, thanks to your page one reminder, I am on my way to buy the book.

10. The Clintons are both crying all the way to the bank.
Both of them are hugely successful despite the crap the media, on behalf of the RW, dished out. I think it's hilarious! I was one of the first to buy Hillary's book and I'll be there tomorrow for my copy of Bill's. I do this because I just love to see the RWingers blood pressure soar. Tee hee.
