Four U.S. Soldiers Killed in Attack West of Baghdad
RAMADI, Iraq (Reuters) - Four U.S. soldiers were killed in an attack by Iraqi insurgents west of Baghdad, witnesses said on Monday.
It was unclear when the soldiers, found in a building site in the town of Ramadi, had been killed. Their bloodied bodies were sprawled on the ground, surrounded by scattered equipment. The U.S. military had no immediate comment.

my husband was already part of and is scheduled to go back into in less than a year. Since we don't appear to be leaving anytime soon, I keep hoping everything will calm down.

5. There have been at least 30 casualties in June
The only thing that is few and far between, unfortunately, is the reporting of the casualties by the press.

You can keep track at the following link, though it takes a day or so for the Army to report and longer for the Marines: http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/

Icasualties(lunaville) has 844 this morning. I think the military has been forting up to keep the casualties down, I get the feeling they are sitting on a bomb.

10. I think you're right
Remember, we heard some time ago that Bush planned to garrison the troops from June on to keep casualties down. The media is also complying in not talking about losses very much. They can't ignore it when it's several at once like today, but we don't hear about the one or two a day still being killed.

hear of those Special Ops types being killed. Could probably add another 30 or so to that total. This all sucks.

Just another case against the "religion of peace" anybody else see the blood trails??? they were shot in the head...they had their body armor probably stolen from them as well....May god bless their souls and TOTAL DEATH TO ISLAM.....this is one case i don't care what Our commander in chief says....Islam is NOT the religion of peace....these photos are absolutely sickening...our "news" media and i use that term loosely, should absolutely be ashamed of themselves and in some instances could very rightly be charged with treason....just my two cents...may god bless our troops and all of the American citizens who have lost their lives to these SAVAGE animals . May God Bless the United States of America.

And they think it is a ploy of the liberal media to get Bush out of the WH. Freepers are scum of the earth. They'll all go to HELL.

Hey Freepers: The war on Iraq was started by Bush, without ANY link of Saddam to 9/11 or proof of WMD. I guess Bush thought he'll get re-elected if he gives himself the title of "WAR PRESIDENT"

No blood on the ground, not wearing their equipment, no bullet marks nearby - looks like they were dumped there as a PR ploy for the foreign press????

When the number hits 1,000...watch out.
There will be more than one "1000" celebration by the media.

Last week I noted CNN using a 950 plus number. Then I realized they're counting all coalition deaths to get there faster.

They have no shame.

In reality there have been just over 500 combat deaths btwn Iraq and Afghanistan, I think.

Of course we've had many more murders here in LA where I am in the same time period. I guess that makes LA a combat zone.

Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 09:49 AM by TahitiNut
I'll be interested in reading their identities. Until then, I'm skeptical they're "troops." Since when are "troops" deployed in quartets? (That's far less than squad size.) Since when do "troops" leave their dead to be found later? This stinks.

20. Yeah...leaving comrades on the field
More than passing strange, this. Notice that all their equipment is sitting next to them. A bizarre incident. I thought that Ramadi was far enough west to be controlled mostly by Marines, but leaving dead comrades on the field? I don't get it.

Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 10:30 AM by TahitiNut
First off, the Marines never leave their dead behind. If there were no survivors, then these were the only four. Since the military doesn't deploy in less than squad strength and uses tactical radio for backup and coordination, then this must've been a mercenary "unit."

This is another example of disinformation, imho.

Here's the Reuters 10:39 a.m. update:
RAMADI, Iraq (Reuters) - Four U.S. soldiers were killed in an attack in the western Iraqi city of Ramadi on Monday, the U.S. military said.

"We have had four servicemen killed," Brigadier General Mark Kimmitt told a news conference.

Insurgents took witnesses to the scene of the attack, a building site in Ramadi, west of Baghdad. The bloodied bodies of the four soldiers were sprawled on the ground, surrounded by scattered equipment and belongings.

It was unclear when they had died. They were not wearing the helmets or body armor routinely worn by U.S. troops on alert.

31. I am not so sure they are mercs...
I saw the video of the four dead for several minutes on CNN. My impression was that they were indeed soldiers. One was a black fellow on his stomach in desert camouflage. Of course you never know with all of the lying coming put of the US officials. The truth in this whole Iraq-fuck won't be straightened out for years.

25. Four Marines Slain In Ambush
Four U.S. service members were killed Monday in an ambush in the Sunni Muslim city of Ramadi, witnesses said. Videotape delivered to Associated Press Television News showed the four, still in uniform, lying dead near what appeared to be a walled compound.

U.S. command in Ramadi said four Marines were killed in an ambush in the last 24 hours, but was unable to confirm that the bodies shown in the videotape are those of the dead Marines, reports CBS News Correspondent Charles D'Agata.

Elsewhere, a roadside bomb exploded near the northern city of Mosul, killing four Iraqis and wounding four others. The military said the Iraqis were employed by a private company working in northern Iraq, though it didn't say which one.

27. I'm so sick of reading about GI deaths!
Edited on Mon Jun-21-04 12:22 PM by Barkley
Every time I read these headlines my stomach gets weak and I get angry and I want to cry.

These men and women are OUR children!

They're in their early 20s dying for some B.S. in a country that poses NO quantifiable threat to American national security.

We've got to hold our elected officials accountable for this obscene
foreign policy blunder.

The first thing I'm fighting for is the defeat of Bush in Nov. I completely understand Nader's critiques but Bush must go! His policy of pre-emptive wars must not be endorsed.

Obviously, electing Kerry won't be enough. So I'm also going to fight for electing progressive in the Congressional midterm elections of '06.

We've got to

BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

Expect a lot more of this-- This is what a Guerrilla war looks like.

A few here a few there

Day after day

Week after week

Month after month

Year after year

Until the aggressor tires of it, and leaves the playing field to the Resistance Forces
