Saddam's handover 'within days'
The head of Iraq's tribunal that will handle Saddam Hussein's trial says a deal on his handover to the Iraqis can be reached within the next two days.
Salim Chalabi also says the ousted Iraqi leader is being held in Iraq.

There has been no confirmation of where Saddam Hussein is being held since he was captured by the US last year.

Iraq's authorities have made it clear they want Saddam Hussein turned over to them before the transfer of power by the US-led coalition on 30 June.

1. Once Iraq is sovereign, can they elect Saddam as president
in a free and fair election?

And if they did would we invade to preserve democracy there?

5. "Once Iraq is sovereign, can they elect Saddam as president"
We wouldn't have to invade: to our undying shame, we already own Iraq.

2. There must be a legal reason they are eager
To have Saddam turned over before the so-called transition.

4. What is Chalabi's rush anyway? Seems there's a big push to get
their hands on Saddam. It all seems pretty fishy to me.

6. My guess..

.. I think the US are also VERY eager to get their hands off Saddam, so he can "disappear" - perhaps a raid on the prison holding Saddam, which would force the guards to shoot him to keep him from escaping. Et voila, no embarrasing stories of how the US sold Iraq all the weapons that * and his cronies went to war over.

Not to mention, what IS Chalabi up to these days - IIRC, he was ousted by the US due to some Iranian connections and after that we never heard much of him. I personally doubt that the US have handed him over to Jordan, who have a hard sentence waiting for him.

7. So Saddam will be "misplaced" somewhere, never to be heard from, and
this Chalabi nephew, why does he hold this position again? And the "uncle" Chalabi with the mysterious ties to Iran - where is he now? Still sitting on the lame duck council - no?

8. It would draw attention away from a faltering Presidency,
is my guess.
