Edited on Thu Jun-24-04 08:02 AM by LeftHander
A agitated young man was subded by police.

Upon arrival at the station the man was unresponsive and was DOA.

AUtposy was unconlusive but it was detereminined that he may of suffocated. Police said the young man was hooded to allegedly prevent him from spitting.

See how it filters down......

Can police hood?

Other reports from television state the hood used was not designed for preventing a person from spitting but was a chemical attack mask...

1. Yet another victim
of the insane drug war on drugs:

"Sheridan had been arrested on a drug paraphernalia possession charge when Bayside police stopped the vehicle in which he was riding after an attendant at a Citgo gas station, 11319 N. Port Washington Road in Mequon, reported that the vehicle drove off without paying for $10 in gas at 5:18 p.m."

6. It was a hit NO THEFT HAD OCCURED
"No, no . . .," Sheridan is heard to yell. He then sounds as if he is shouting, "It's not fair," although the precise statement is difficult to determine.
<snip>
Sheridan died after an officer put what was believed to be a spit bag over Sheridan's head on Saturday. The device, meant to protect officers from saliva, turned out to be a high-tech respirator called the SURVIVAIR Quick2000 escape hood. Its manufacturer said that if used improperly, the respirator could cause death or serious injury.

Sheridan had been arrested on a drug paraphernalia possession charge when Bayside police stopped the vehicle in which he was riding after an attendant at a Citgo gas station, 11319 N. Port Washington Road in Mequon, reported that the vehicle drove off without paying for $10 in gas at 5:18 p.m.
Police would later determine that there was no gas theft that night.
<snip>
The Mequon officer then reports that he has arrived at the Mequon Police Station and requests that the sally port be opened.

The very next transmission is "beginning CPR."

That was at 6:41 p.m. Saturday, less than 11/2 hours after police received the call from the Citgo about the reported gas drive-off.

At 6:42 p.m., a Mequon rescue squad was called. Shortly thereafter, a female officer says: "My (inaudible) says he's a regular cocaine user and he's possibly been drinking today as well."

IMHO it was a PLANNED hit.

8. We need to get some plain talk concerning "hooding" in America
Merely explaining it's needed to protect officers from terrifying, fatal SPITTING while we know it's also in use as a torture device outside the States, doesn't really wear comfortably with the taxpayers, or at least the sentient ones.
