Explosives Found at Istanbul Airport Before Summit
ISTANBUL, Turkey (Reuters) - Turkish authorities discovered a vehicle full of explosives in the parking lot of Istanbul international airport Friday, local television station CNN Turk said.

Turkey's largest city is on edge before a NATO summit to be attended by President Bush and more than 40 other world leaders.

A bomb explosion killed four people, including the bomber, and wounded 21 others Thursday in Istanbul. Authorities have blamed left-wing extremists for the attack.

4. You know, on CNN a couple of days ago...
They had a poll "Is it too dangerous for president Bush to go to Turkey right now."

Then yesterday terrorists blew up the hotel Bush was going to stay at. Then this.

I wonder if Uncle Dick and The Puppetmasters are planning something nasty.

5. Hardly blew up the hotel Bush was going to stay in.
http://cnnstudentnews.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/06/24/turkey.blast/

Earlier, in the Turkish capital of Ankara, a smaller bomb blast in front of the Hilton Hotel wounded two people, including a police officer.

Police on the scene said one officer kicked the suspicious package, causing it to detonate and injure his legs.

The bomb didn't even kill the cop that kicked it, let alone "blew up the hotel Bush was going to stay at."

7. Blew up the hotel / injured a cop that kicked the bomb = splitting hairs??
I don't want you to do my taxes. Your rounding errors would surely get me audited.

8. A bomb blew up outside of the hotel.
It's not like a bomb blew up a couple of blocks down the street. It's rather obvious that people are targeting Bush.

9. I would say it was definitely a message for the establishments.
I wouldn't say it blew up the hotel. I also wouldn't say it was targeting Bush. If it was "targeting" Bush it wouldn't be left in front of the hotel 2 days before he was due to be there. Also, did the bomber think Bush was going to see it and carry it under his arm until it exploded or just go over and kick it till it went off?

There is plenty to be said about these news items without exaggerating them to the point where people ignore the meanings.

10. How much structural damage to the hotel?
Windows blown out?

Do you think Bush will still be staying there?

12. For someone who said they read the article you sure have a lot of question
Perhaps you should work on your retention and comprehension skills.

Police had been notified of a suspicious package on the street some 75 meters (yards) from the entrance to the hotel.

About a half-dozen small "sound bombs" -- explosives designed primarily to make noise and not cause serious damage -- have exploded in Istanbul since last week.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/06/24/turkey.blast.ap/

Washington pledged that the attacks would not affect Bush's travel plans.
"It does appear that these terrorist attacks are intended to disrupt preparations for the upcoming NATO summit, which is a gathering of free nations united in our global fight against terrorism," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan. "In terms of the (Bush's) schedule, nothing has changed."
