Three-Star General Put in Charge of Army Probe of Abuses at Iraq Prison
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Army replaced Maj. Gen. George Fay with a more senior general Friday as chief investigator of the role of military intelligence in the abuse of prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq.
The switch to Lt. Gen. Anthony R. Jones, deputy commander of the Army Training and Doctrine Command, will delay completion of the military investigation, said Sen. John Warner, chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. Warner, R-Va., said it also would impede Congress' efforts to get to the bottom of the matter.

"Congress must be given the tools, the reports with which to do its proper oversight," he said. Warner urged the Pentagon to provide his committee with at least an interim report; Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, testifying before the panel on Friday, said he would try.

"What I've been told so far by lawyers, that's virtually impossible in a situation where people are investigating guilt and innocence of individuals," Wolfowitz said. "But I share your concern."

1. Wolf at the door
Kewl! Wolfowitz shares Sen. Warner's concern. But he doesn't seem to send how, or which concern. Probably that the report might be released and name "The Wolf" as having participated in the tortures. Strictly as a educator, of course.

Or perhaps he's concerned that Col. Pappas said, "I'm not going down alone about this," about the beating to death of a detainee.

It's a good thing Bushit only authorized torture. Had he actually ordered it there might have resulted a huge scandal about torture that included sexual humiliation, barking dogs, beatings, rapes, and murders.

And we wouldn't want that to happ -- oh, right, it did. It slipped my mind, because that's not our values. It's not our soul, man.

3. Another Delaying Tactic
This three-star can investigate ONLY to Sanchez's level, he cannot "interview" any four-stars back at the Pentagon, so if Sanchez implicates any of them we'll have to "redo" the investigation with yet another MORE senior General.
