Pope: Torture should be outlawed

VATICAN CITY, June 27 (UPI) -- Pope John Paul II Sunday called for a complete ban on torture, the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

"Institutions and citizens should totally ban this intolerable violation of human rights, which is radically contrary to the dignity of man," the pope declared.

The pope was addressing an estimated crowd of 20,000 in St Peter's Square from his window in the Vatican Palace overlooking the square.

John Paul did not refer to the Iraqi prisoner abuses by U.S. servicemen and women at Abu Ghraib prison, but Vatican sources said the scandal was clearly in his mind.

1. Torture is outlawed isn't it?
Silly me I think that is why we have laws prohibiting the practice of torture.

10. Denounced by the Pope on Sunday, huh?
You think this is going to be another bad week for Duhbya?

I sure think so.

And you can bet the issues raised in F911 are going to be on everyone's minds this week. Questions will be asked.

When will they crack?

And people wonder why alot of us Catholic liberals who don't allow the Vatican to decide for us how we should vote hold our noses when we enter DU.

"Nazi loving religion"

Oh I'm sure French, German, Irish, Latino, and Italian Catholics around the country would just love you for that statement.

While you're not in the business of going around bashing Catholics (much to most Republican's glee who themselves hate Catholics for not being "true" Christians) I'm sure you're also quick to point out that Islam is a religion that preaches hate, torture, and murder right?
