Michael Moore's Army On The Move
Michael Moore has a war plan to defeat President Bush. With MoveOn.org, he now has his army.

Speaking to an estimated 55,000 liberal activists by conference call Monday night, packed into 4,600 homes nationwide, Moore asked three things of his devoted listeners.

First, get up at 5 a.m. on Nov. 2; take the day off from work and volunteer in your local community to help increase turnout for Sen. John Kerry. Second, take one weekend in October, drive to a swing state and rally people to Kerry's side. Third, find five potential voters who were not planning to vote, and "adopt them." Get them to vote, he urged.

1. "Find five potential voters..."
and take them to F9/11!

That movie should make any thinking human being change his or her mind about Bushco.

And the media!

2. Just wanted to remind you that....
Kerry is prowar (until he says otherwise), and that if you vote for a prowar candidate, you endorse the war. Just a reminder.

One is Bush, the other is Kerry.

Who are you voting for?

4. On the other hand, consider that voting for a foam-mouthed wolverine...
would be better than voting for Bush.

Seriously, Charlie, how can it get any worse?

To date, Kerry is the only candidate capable of beating Bush. I`m not going to throw my vote away just to make a statement. Not this time. Bush has just about ruined things and he needs a giant defeat.

7. And I just wanted to remind you that
You people are the same liars who said there was no difference between Bush* and Gore. Still clinging to that one? Still think Gore would have started the Iraq War? Fucking bullshit. "Oh theres no difference between Rethugs and Democrats". I don't know how you live with yourselves.

24. Uhh, it was contested.
For about a month, during which the thugs dragged us through the slime via a compliant media and violent reprisals against poll watchers. Fearing outright conflict, we conceded for the "good of the Nation". This is, of course, after a lengthy 8 year attack on the previous Democratic President, which I suppose was done just for fun since the DNC and RNC are on the same side. It's called history, feel free to look into it. Unless you'd rather continue wasting your life following pathetic Naderite pipe dreams. Have you heard Gore speak lately? This is the man who is the same as Bush*? If Bush* hasn't proven the difference to you, then your probably beyond reason.

28. not to the end
Gore should be the candidate this time as well. He was disinvited.
Nader, Naderism and Naderiting mythology aside has nothing to do with the truth of power and the actions of the high command. Its not worth another word discussing the Nader program, but theres no reason to follow anyone blindly, least of all corporate interests masquerading as political machinery.

33. Insults are the first resort of those without arguments
First, it's puzzling why you'd call yourself leftistagitator; you're not much of a leftist, however much you may be terribly agitated.

Second, the poster is perfectly correct that Kerry is pro-war. Kerry is a co-author of the misery in Iraq that Moore details so corrosively and movingly in F 9-11. Kerry continues pigheadedly to back this immoral occupation. If he's elected, that foolish establishment-friendly position just could lead to a draft. You going to go?

As for your outburst about "lies" and "liv(ing) with yourselves," here's a little advice: not everyone sees things the way you do. And judging from the mess our nation's in, I'll be the first to say thank god for that.

34. There never would have been an Iraq War if Bush* hadn't been selected
Edited on Wed Jun-30-04 04:03 AM by leftistagitator
Too many people listened to Nader last time around about this "sameness" of the Democrats and Republicans, people who gave their vote to a man who had absolutely no chance of defeating Bush*. If we don't get him out this time there will be more wars. Iran, Syria, Venezuala, the list of innocent countries on that bastards list is endless. Thousands of people have already died in these worthless wars, and I hold those who throw their vote away with the same disregard as those who vote for that monster.

I'm not Left? I think you have Left confused with stupid. I'm as pro-gay, pro-civil rights, pro-choice, pro-social saftynet, pro-end the drug war, pro-enviroment as anyone here. I also oppose stupid wars. But I am also a yellow dog Democrat, any modern Democrat is better than any modern Republican. If you hadn't noticed, all those people who used to disagree with that sentiment are starting to realize the wisdom of the idea. Moore didn't invite Nader to his movie opening, he invited the DNC. Bill Maher, former outspoken Naderite, has become a steadfast Democratic booster.

And maybe I just see Kerry a little differently than you. I see a man who has consistently stood up for the past 30 years for Democratic causes, from Gay rights, to the enviroment, to economic issues, and against the Vietnam War. This is no hawk, like you seem to think he is. He voted in support of this resolution in an attempt to avoid war. Apparently you weren't paying attention at the time, Bush*'s henchmen said if the Senate blocked the resolution he would immediately invade Iraq under the authority given to him in an earlier bill. In a vain attempt to give Iraq a chance to avoid this catastrophe, he gave permission to Bush* to leverage the prospect of war to get Saddam to disclose his non-existent weapons programs. In retrospect Bush* obviously would never have let this war not happen, but it was the best chance Kerry saw at the time to avoid war. Kerry has consistently tried to avoid war, from blocking the first Gulf War resolution to Vietnam, he is not, as you claim "pro-War".

And yes, you were lying. Don't you remember Bore and Gush. Don't you remember how "There's no difference between Gore and Bush, so it doesn't matter if you don't vote or piss your vote away". No sane person who has looked into the two men's political history could say those things, no sane person who has listened to Gore's speeches lately could say that. You were LYING, period. And those lies, in a mechanism bankrolled by the Rethugs, have led untold destruction waged against my beloved country by installing one of the worst presidents in history into power.

And yes, if Kerry is elected and the only choice he sees is a draft, I will go. Kerry will not foolishly squander our lives to pad his friends bank accounts or furfill his imperial dreams, so if he asks me to go I will.

9. Kerry would not have initiated this war if he were in power. He will not
initiate another war if he is in power. That is the difference.

He simply feels that our nation has to do the honorable thing and repair the damage we have done.

12. That is not true.
We have only two choices in this election. Kerry voted for the war, but he is very different in his approach than the Shrub. Kerry will get us out as quickly as possible, and he won't expand the war to other countries.

If Shrub is reelected, he will say he has a mandate to expand this war to invasions and occupations of Iran, Syria, who knows where else?

There is a BIG difference between the two candidates.

14. Kerry voted for the war
Come on now, there was never a war vote. There was, however, a half assed law mistakenly passed in the hysteria of 9/11 expanding presidential powers to make war.

10. Moore gave a rousing speech!
The reservation list for the "House Party" in Miami got so big (300 or so), that it had to be held in an auditorium. Michael's directive about taking a weekend off in October to go to a swing state got a good laugh from the audience. I hope that lots of activists come to the rescue in Florida.

16. ROFLMAO...
Wasn't it none other than Michael Moore who backed Nader in 2000? Moore did go with the rhetoric that the Republicans and Democrats were two heads on the same beast. He even directed a Rage Against the Machine video for "Testify" which illustrated the rhetoric (the video ran into some censorship issues on MTV if I recall correctely).

If history serves me right, Nader handed the election to Bush (AND MOORE BACKED HIM). Are we simply going to forgive and forget about Moore's meddling on the wrong side in 2000?

What is it Moore, are the Republicans and Democrats different now that it is four years later? His rhetoric mislead a great many into casting their vote for Nader and set the presidency of Bush the 2nd upon us! SHAME ON HIM!

19. Moore has apologized for that. I thought everyone knew that.
So, Moore was personally responsible for * getting elected?

The Supreme Court had nothing to do with it?

The fiasco in Florida did not happen?

The Dems did not allow the election to be certified anyway, despite the attempts of the Congressional Black Caucus to stop the certification?

Have you even SEEN the movie, Mr. Five Posts?

21. Hey Beav...
...lots of us got religion after seeing what the Resident Chimp was capable of doing. Past presidents who won by slim margins traditionally ran a centrist administration since they recognized they had no public mandate. Most people expected that tradition to continue. Few of us understood the Shrub and most figured he'd be a wimp like his Pa.

You have to hand it to Rove. He did a great job of hiding Bush's true intentions until it was too late to stop him.

As for Micheal, holding a guy's feet to the fire for past mistakes after he has repented serves absolutely no purpose. Moore is putting the spotlight squarely on Bush and highlighting his deceptions, something our own media are afraid to do. I say forget about the past and help him expose the Worst President Ever.

31. Umm, Moore was fooled like many others of us by Nader in 2000....
...I voted for Nader in 2000 - won't happen again...No one I know that voted Nader is backing him in 2004 (except for Peter Camejo, and hell, he's going to be his VEEP, so maybe that's why)....Actually, the only people I know backing Nader are Republicans!

Why are you getting so mad at Moore for having believed in Nader in 2000? A lot of us did...does that make us all bad and that we should be filled with shame?

Moore is not straying from his beliefs....he's always been a "progressive" and someone who fights for the underdog and the average "Joe" american....he had believed in 2000 that Nader best represented those values....Since that time, he realizes that with the awful things that the Bush Administration has done that they only way to save our country (since we are a 2 party system) is to vote for the democratic candidate. And in case you don't remember, he was backing Wesley Clark, not Kerry before the party candidate was "selected".

By the way, your new to the DU....from your postings we should assume you didn't vote for Nader and voted Gore?
