Log Cabin praises Republican convention's speakers
National gay political group Log Cabin Republicans on Tuesday praised the Republican National Convention for its choice of "inclusive, big-tent Republicans to speak in prime time at the convention in New York City." The speakers include former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, Arizona senator John McCain, California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and New York governor George Pataki.

"These speakers represent the future of the Republican Party," said Patrick Guerriero, executive director of the Log Cabin Republicans. "These Republicans are among the leading voices for inclusion in the GOP. We applaud the RNC for showcasing leaders who have had the courage to oppose any attempt to write discrimination into our Constitution."

McCain, Giuliani, Schwarzenegger, and Pataki have all been critical of the antigay Federal Marriage Amendment. Each of the Republicans has a track record of running winning inclusive campaigns and of support for many issues critical to the gay and lesbian community.

4. You run to the base for the nomination
& run to the center for the general election.

The Repubs are hiding all the Fundies in a closet for the convention.

To the uninformed, they will seem moderate.

I'll never understand how anyone who is Gay, or Female, or makes less than $500,000.00 per year, could even consider voting Republican.

22. Sexuality is not the only special interest a person has...
Just because someone enjoys sex with people of the same sex does not mean they can't be a millionaire, an NRA zealot, a business owner, in the oil business, or other special interests that sterotypically vote Republican.

With the gay marriage ban (rhetoric to fire up the Religous Right that won't go anywhere), the stats I am hearing is that only 1/2 of 1% of the population would even engage in gay marriage. The other interests these Log Cabin Republicans have could easily overshadow the menial issue (to them) of gay marriage.

The Republicans sure as hell are not going to push for the enactment or enforcement of the unconstitutional sodomy laws. Enlighten me if Bush has said anything blatently biggoted agaist homosexuals (excluding the proposed gay marriage ban) as President, as I don't recall any.

it's patently obvious. also, who knows what excesses sockmonkey will engage in if he's re-selected & has nothing to lose?

i doubt he "embraces" gaydom. any g/b/l/t that supports this fundie fondling fuck is as deluded & foolish as any woman, black, hispanic, or native-american that wd vote for curious george.

18. Will the Repubs even be able to understand Der Gropenfuhrer?
After 30 years in the U.S. and years of voice coaching, he still can't shake his overwhelming Austrian accent. My dad came over from Denmark in the 50's, and when he visited his family 20 years later they were all complaining about his "thick American accent."

Of course, my dad had lots of American friends. Herr Nippelgripper probably spends too much time hanging out with buddies like Kurt "SS" Waldheim.

Even though some in the Texas delegation took off their cowboy hats and "prayed" in protest. So far, I don't think any gay democrats are scheduled to speak either.

8. Why would you support people who hate you?
I just don't get it.

Oh, I understand the argument. They're conservative in the traditional sense of being sensible with budgets and wanting small, non-intrusive government.

Okay, but still, how the hell is that the GOP of 2004? It ain't.

I can't understand how anyone could support the Repuglican Party of 2004 unless you like hateful, intrusive, arogant, power-hungry monsters running the country. That's not conservative or liberal. That's just plain stupid. And it's even more stupid when you are a member of a socio-sexual group specifically targeted for hatred and discrimination.

Thus, I must conclude, that the Log Cabin Republicans are indeed the most stupid block of voters in the country today. And that's saying something.

11. Why don't they just hang out in the men's room at the convention?
Edited on Tue Jun-29-04 10:52 PM by Neshanic
I mean really. These guys should just orally service the Republican guys as they enter and exit the mens room at the convention. They would probably have more credential then.

Patrick Guerriero and his creepy following have serious "republican daddy" issues. Maybe a group discount for therapy.

NOT!

They will not speak about this issue at the convention, and the standard bearer of the party is rubbing his hands together trying to get the FMA passed.
These people must swim in the kool-aid.

Not one that I can see. What are those LCR smoking? Greed makes people do stupid things... all for that elusive tax break. They deserve the president they have.

24. Log Cabin Club reminds me of Ernst Roehm and his gay . . . .
(but brownshirted and jackbooted)buddies in the inner circle of the SA. They were Hitler's private army during the early days of the Third Reich,as long as he needed them. When Roehm and his young men began to embarass Hitler, they were all murdered in one night by Himmler's SS thugs. So, you happy Cabin campers better look out! You may have gotten the attention of Sturmbanfuhrer Rumsfeld!

26. Log Cabin is so psychotic!
How could they condemn the GOP for its opposition to equal rights for GLBTs, including same sex marriage, while at the same time praising the GOP Convention for its "inclusive" speakers?

Watching Log Cabin members is as painful as watching gays and lesbian Orthodox Jews struggle with their sexuality in the documentary Trembling Before G_d, which I highly recommend to my GLBT friends.
