Bling Vote: P. Diddy and Posh Posse Launch Citizen Change ("Vote or Die")
The Daily (online fashion) Scene:

Bling Vote
P. Diddy and posh posse launch Citizen Change

NEW YORK: Tuesday, July 06, 2004

WHAT: Sean “P. Diddy” Combs’ 4th of July white party (everyone wears white)

WHERE: The Playstation 2 house in Bridgehampton

SCENE: “We made Bentley, Cristal, and bling hot. Now it’s time for the election,” P. Diddy said as he made his way into the Playstation house, accompanied by his mother, Janice Combs, and “A Raisin in the Sun” co-star Phylicia Rashad. More than a thousand of his friends and guests shut down Bridgehampton as they partied at the sixth-annual white party celebrating Independence Day, and more importantly, the birth of Citizen Change. A non-partisan, non-profit organization with a mission to educate, inspire, and mobilize young Americans to vote on November 2nd, P. Diddy reinforced his mission by passing out t-shirts emblazoned with the motto “Vote or Die”— but alas, though it may have been a political event, the mega-entrepreneur still managed to unleash a gaggle of go-go dancers.

“While the evening’s host and company arrived via two customized helicopters, guests arrived early in their Ferraris and Bentleys to avoid the crush of people queuing for security checkpoints. Aretha Franklin arrived in a Bentley carrying a massive Chanel beach bag, Farnsworth Bentley, in a BMW coupe, Russell Simmons (sans Kimora), in a Volkswagen Beetle convertible. Citizen Change hopes to empower the thirty-five million minorities who are ignored by politicians to be paid attention to,” Combs said. After a night of major rides, major celebs, and major ideas, P. Diddy said to expect a major announcement on July 12....

SEEN: MTV’s Quddus, Rachel Hunter, Betsey Johnson, Mary J. Blige, Nylon’s Dani Stahl, Jessica Meisels, Jeff Goldstein, DJ Mark Ronson, Andre Harrell, Tyson Beckford, Lisa Ling, Paris Hilton, Samantha Cole, Jacob the Jeweler, Al Sharpton, and Denise Rich.

HEARD: “How do you not vote? It’s the American way.” Sage words from LL Cool J, spiffed up in a white suit, cap, and rocking the current season’s Gucci sneakers....

1. I'm very glad to see celebrities using their status
to try to influence young people to be more civic-minded. Kudos to him.

since she thinks Georgie's hip and happening. It's great to see the others using their powers for good instead of evil, though.

Stupid cow.

6. Sounds like Bush's Base....
Really, this event has Sharpton, Hunter, Cole, Rich all of whom are somehow related to the Republican party...

I wish that P-Diddy would go partisan, I'm really beginning to detest these "get out the vote" charades, why not come out and say what you really want to say? "Vote for Kerry!" The time for fair play ended in 2000, now we need to take the gloves off and stop encouraging people to even consider voting Republican. But that's the problem, we want to play fair, and it's hard to break our morals and ideals, but right now we need to stop the fascists and if that means P-Diddy slamming Bush and Republicans, than so be it, please.

8. Vote Or Die? Isn't that a reference to the draft if Bush wins?
