Lawmaker: Reserves Near Breaking Point
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 02:04 PM by dArKeR
By PAULINE JELINEK, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - The Pentagon (news - web sites) is taxing its reserve soldiers "nearly to the breaking point" with repeated and extended deployments in its two ongoing wars, a senior lawmaker told defense officials Wednesday.

"I'm worried ... worried for them, for asking very few to exert an enormous sustained effort for the good of all of us," said Missouri Rep. Ike Skelton, ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee.

The committee was hearing testimony on troop rotations in Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan (news - web sites), looking with particular interest at reservists and at a move made last week by the Defense Department to call back soldiers who have already served.

So why aren't any of the 'rich' patriotic kids filing in the ranks? Where are the Congress, Judicial, and Executive Branch children? Why aren't their parents forcing them to sign up to defend the freedom their parents are talking about on Whore TV?

Look at this picture. Bush has turned Iraq into a wasteland:

When was the last time children went to school?

1. A parent cannot "force" their child to enlist, not should they be able to
I understand the sentiment and appreciate it. But there are legitimate reasons why these lawmakers' children might not want to join the military. Many of them probably also do not agree with the war.

2. GHW Bush joined to salvage the name of the Bush family
after his daddy was busted for trading with the enemy. Do you really think he wanted to join?

5. How about you can't run for Congress
unless you kids agree to be in the military? Make it a family affair!

3. Let's poll the Freepers..........how many are serving?
On the other hand, they think it's a "privilege" to serve the country, so they must have large numbers over there!

4. I've been in the Reserves for many years
and there have never been any "rich" patriotic kids in the reserves. They may have showed up somewhere in the officer ranks on someones staff, but that would be it. Or, of course, the Texas Air National Guard.

8. HOw Can You Have A Coup
If the army's all in hospital, dead, or Iraq and Afghanistan? If we have a major forest fire this year, we're screwed. There aren't that many trained bodies on the ground here.

10. I didn't even think of that, D.
Wouldn't that be something? Here in Oregon, we seem to have more and more devastating fires each summer. I can't even imagine what would happen if no one could be there to help put it out.

Thanks, BeelzeBush.

11. This story was on the San Jose news, 6PM. No emergency/medical
personnel on stand-bye if the states have an emergency. And they weren't talking massive earthquke... destruction. Just above normal ones and twos in scattered locations.

I swear by life's experience that ALL republicans are Disciples of Satan. This party should be banned from America as the Nazi party should be banned from Germany.
