Bush Hits the Panic Button; President Personally Attacks New Kerry-Edwards
This is sooo typical.

Bush Hits the Panic Button; President Personally Attacks New Kerry-Edwards Ticket in its First 24 Hours

/7/2004 3:25:00 PM

To: National Desk

<snip>

"The fact that the President of the United States is personally taking swipes at the Kerry-Edwards ticket a mere day after it was announced speaks volumes. There's a reason that George Bush is vulnerable in states like North Carolina and it's because he has failed to address the job losses that have devastated the textile industry there, choosing instead to attack his political opponents.

3. Apparently Smirky has seen some of the new poll numbers about Edwards.
But I thought he didn't pay any attention to polls. Heh.

4. That Bush sure likes to flip-flop.
Just yesterday he was talking about how he welcomed Edwards to the campaign and looked forward to a civil race.

10. In the beginning, I remember they said Bush was going to run a...
'Rose Garden' strategy. That lasted until the first poll numbers came back during the primaries. He hit the road and has been running harder ever since, than any sitting president I can remember.

And at best, some 80 or more million dollars later, he has been able to remain 'neck and neck', if the polls are to be believed, which I do Not. Watch Bush. He is basically lazy. Once he thinks he can't catch us in the polls, he will stop running at such a breakneck speed. He will start running from his pseudoranch.

And now Bush has to keep up with Edwards too, as Cheney is completely worthless on the campagn trail. He gets booed in any crowd over a thousand.

The Edwards pick is the beginning of the end for these guys.

12. A great comebacker by Kerry….
CLEVELAND (AP)--President George W. Bush on Wednesday curtly dismissed
freshman Sen. John Edwards' credentials to be vice president, while Democratic
challenger John Kerry and his running mate rallied voters in battleground
states.
"Dick Cheney can be president," Bush declared, and Kerry suggested that was
part of the problem.

16. Here you go.
Bush Says He'll Win N. Carolina, `Carry the South' (Update3)

<snip>
When asked by reporters how he thought Edwards, 51, stacked up against Vice President Dick Cheney, 63, Bush replied: ``Dick Cheney can be president.''

At a rally in Dayton, Ohio, Kerry retorted that Bush ``was right'' when he said Cheney ``has the experience on day one to take over as president.''

``He was right that Dick Cheney was ready to take over on day one, and did, and he has been ever since, folks, and that's what we've got to change,'' Kerry said.

24. I really like this graph:
in addition to all the witty Kerry statements!

"The son of a Carolina textile mill worker, Edwards, 51, called Kerry, 60, ``the kind of man we grew up looking up to, respecting, somebody who believed in faith and family and responsibility, and having everybody get a chance to do what they're capable of doing, not just a few.''

A huge defining statement by Edwards...that should not be overlooked..

a tip of the "cap" to you.. JE-

I don't wear a cap, but if I did...well, you know..

Edwards is going to make a big difference in this race. Bush looks bad - and not just when compared to Edwards ;-)

26. the first thing I heard about Edwards...
was his thing about ending legacy admissions, which fits in with that quote. I was really impressed that he chose that issue as one of his first to talk about in his campaign.

27. What an asshat...my R Dad just told me he's voting D!
He and Mom live near Wilmington, NC and voted for the shrub. They've listened to me complain for nearly 4 years. Dad really, really hates the Patroit Act and the debt problem.

Last night they said Edward's sealed the deal for them! And Smirky looked ridiculous there yesterday...pandering...claiming to be Southern.

Ha ha fricking ha!

28. * was so rattled during the press conference
in Raleigh, NC yesterday - I enjoyed watching him squirm and attack the reporter who dared challenge the positive energy Edwards generates. He then basically ran out of the room claiming another reporter looked "too hot". * is scared to death because NC is now a possibility for us to win. BTW, this was his first appearance in NC since 2000.

29. NC IS A BATTLEGROUND STATE...despite what many say...
Despite the loathing by some DUers that Kerry should actually visit any state below the Mason Dixon line...

They need to spend as much time in NC as Ohio. BTW, how many electoral votes does NC have?

30. Yes, it is most definitely a battleground state.
Kerry and Edwards need to campaign hard here, that is my hope.

NC has 14 electoral votes.
