Congress Approves Concealed Weapons Bill
WASHINGTON -- Off-duty and retired police officers would have the right to carry concealed weapons in any state under legislation the Senate approved by voice vote Wednesday and sent to the president.

The bill, passed by the House last month, would override some states' prohibitions on carrying concealed firearms. Many states do not recognize other states' concealed weapons permits.

a whole segment of the population which hold a particular job is more equal than the rest of us when it comes to holding concealed firearms.

2. The only problem I have with this really is the "retired" part
Edited on Wed Jul-07-04 08:27 PM by khephra
If they're retired, how can we really know that they're even fit to own a gun let alone carry one around concealed in their senior years.

Yes, I know lots of our senior citizens have guns. No problem with that. What I'm thinking of is retired cops who may be a little...overzealous to be back in the game again.

4. I wonder
How many cops will carry their guns across state lines and kill their ex-wives with them?

6. Why should a cop
need to carry in different states? He/she can't arrest someone out of their jurisdiction, can they?

I'm all for CCW, but don't understand why this only includes the police. How about former military, etc...

7. The first step in creating a police state
I'm willing to bet the next step is police will be given the power to make arrests across state lines.

Any takers?
