Illinois Fixes Glitch to Keep Bush's Spot on Ballot
CHICAGO (Reuters) - Illinois fixed a glitch in its election law on Thursday to ensure President Bush appears on the state's Nov. 2 ballots.

snip.......

"Illinois citizens should be able to vote for the sitting president if they choose, and this technical change will make sure that they have that option in November," said Gov. Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat.

2. The Dems roll over again and let the Repukes run over them!
Damnit, the Dems never stand up for principles!

They had it all over the Repukes' blatant attempt to dance on the graves of 3000 innocents, and they once again roll over and play lapdog.

Cheney the Cheneys!

After this election, I'm all about getting rid of BOTH parties!

7. Ditto Walt. This is lame.
The asshole Republicans decide they want to hold their convention in September to tie it into 9-11 and to give them more time for fund-raising.

Unfortunately for them, it also means they've fucked up in Illinois and his name won't be on the ballot.

But God forbid the Democrats force the Republicans to change their convention date. No, let's just pander along and cave in.

You can bet your ass the Republicans wouldn't have done the same if the situation was reversed. After all the fucking overs they've given Democrats in the last year (redistricting, scheduling votes to hurt Kerry, etc).

3. Glitch?
The freakin' "Glitch" is the Bush* maldministration that wants to exploit 9-11 AND have more time to capture bri... er, "donations" by extending the nomination date. Its gonna backfire big time.

5. Didn't the dumb-ass repukes know what the rules were -
when they scheduled their convention? I say they should have had to change the convention schedule and if that would have caused them some inconvenience, so what?

6. "Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat" -- slight error.
I don't like using the accusation "DINO" ... but Rod's gridlocked our Democratic legislature worse than having a Republican in office would be. If we can't unseat him in the next primary, we're gonna get a Republican in his office in 2006. :-(

8. This is the right thing to do
We want to beat Bush legitimately, in the landslide defeat he deserves, because our candidates are a million times better. Not because of a tehnicality in a state law regarding dates. That will be the best revenge.

I remember when Kathy Harris and Jebbie were blathering on about deadlines during the Florida recount, and how angry I was because such technicalities should never have been considered over the right of people's votes to be counted. People have a right to vote for Bush if they choose. It's our job to make sure more people vote for Kerry.

We want to win fair and square, not by playing games like they do.

11. It Wasn't A Technicality. It Was A Clearly Written Law Which Bush Flouted
purposely.

But then, the Democrats rolled over when Bush chose Cheney against the Constitution which says Potus & VP can't be from same state.

14. Fuck that. It would have been fair and square.
THEY ARE PURGING THE VOTING ROLLS OF DEMOCRATS.

THEY ARE REDRAWING DISTRICT LINES IN 2004 THAT WERE ALREADY REDRAWN BASED ON THE CENSUS.

THEY TRIED TO ARREST TEXAS DEMS FOR NOT GOING ALONG.

WALLY O'DELL.

THEY CAUSED A RIOT IN FLORIDA TO STOP THE RECOUNT.

THE HACKED THE SENATE DEMS COMPUTER.

10. The Dems should schedule the 2008 convention in mid October...
Edited on Thu Jul-08-04 05:56 PM by arcos
and ask all states to change the filing dates...

They allowed Res. * to do it, they should allow President Kerry too.

12. Disgusting. Repubs have plenty of election law experts.
They chose a late convention date deliberately. Illinois should have made the Repubs face whatever consequences followed.
