The game is over for Fox Sports Radio.

WRFX (940-AM) will switch its format from sports to politics when it joins the Liberal Talk Radio network Monday.

Station management wasn't talking Friday, but staffers were informed this week, and talk-show hosts were discussing the change on the air...

3. WTF....
Just a few months ago, there were no commercial liberal voices. All we had was some background noise, and listener funded radio like Guy James. Now we have Air America, and this radio station.

But in the end I am aware, this is but a drop in the bucket compared to the conservative voices in the media. There are no local choices here I can listen to, all I get are nationally syndicated Wing Nuts, and the local flavors....

13. he's great, I listen to a scratchy, winy signal from Ann Arbor
it's like 10watts, I swear, that I barely get in Detroit but I listen anyway. Luckily the Portland station plays him right after O'Franken.

5. What is the "Liberal Talk Radio" network?
Air America is not mentioned in this blurb. Is this an entirely different network than AAR? Please, God, don't tell me that Rupert Murdoch is starting his OWN liberal talk radio network.

Billed as yin to conservative radio's yang, the self-styled "progressive" outlet WINZ (940 AM) debuted in South Florida on Monday with a syndicated cast of counter-punching, Bush-baiting liberal commentators.

The launch of the remodeled channel, formerly sports-and-talk station WRFX, was not flawless: One short spell of dead air, followed by a plea to stay tuned, interrupted the afternoon chatter. But WINZ did get its new chorus of left-leaning voices up and running. Listeners could have heard former South Florida radio personality Randi Rhodes skewer the White House for various offenses and greet her new audience with a "Hello, Miami!"

Other daily shows on WINZ are Morning Sedition (6 to 9 a.m.), whose title spoofs NPR's Morning Edition; The O'Franken Factor (noon to 3 p.m.), with comedian and noted Bill O'Reilly tormentor Al Franken; and The Majority Report (8 to 11 p.m.), with actress Janeane Garofalo. All three, as well as The Randi Rhodes Show (9 a.m. to noon, 6 to 8 p.m.), are carried by the new Air America network that aims to give audiences an alternative to O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and other stars of conservative broadcasting.

. . .

The daily lineup is not complete; Ross said WINZ wants to find a local host to complement the syndicated fare. But he said the liberal lineup challenges one frequent complaint about media giant Clear Channel, the country's largest radio chain. "We get accused of being the big bad boy: We don't experiment; we don't do what's innovative," said Ross. "Well, this is about as innovative as it gets."

9. Do you listen to WMNF 88.5?
They have an oustanding public affairs week day lineup 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. which includes 'Democracy Now' at noon.

11. Of course, I take my lunch to listen to Amy Goodman. I saw her
Saturday at the Performing Arts Center..Awesome! What would be nice is to have something good to listen to on the commute home on AM radio. WMNF has a screwed up schedule. I don't want to listen to music on my commute home, I want to hear current events and topics of interest.

7. Sweet! A major project in this country needs to be to break the addiction
to sports viewing in this country. It has replaced the involvement in world and national events that men and women used to participate in. It's a great way to stick your head in the sand year-round and avoid all responsibility. Just like shopping.

12. Two words . . .
Money talks.

If broadcasters see listenership is up by programming a little fairness and balance, they can sell more ads and more expensive ads, and improve their bottom line. Economics at its simplest, and even Rupert Murdoch understands it.
