Imation to lay off 280, most in Tucson

Oakdale, MN, Jul. 14 (UPI) -- Minnesota's Imation plans to close a Tucson computer- tape manufacturing plant and cut 265 staffers, the Arizona Daily Star reported Wednesday.

Besides the 265 people being laid off in Arizona, about 15 others will be dismissed for a total staff reduction of about 10 percent of the current workforce, Imation said.

The company, which also plans to sell the 100,000-square-foot plant, said it would operate the facility through 2004.
