Catalog gives up premium space to defend against bashing of U.S. Troops |
|
this is what patriotism is all about, folks. :eyes: http://www.prnewswire.com/cgi-bin/stories.pl?ACCT=109&STORY=/www/story/07-15-2004/0002210813&EDATE=
KENNESAW, Ga., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Articles praise the efforts and achievements of the U.S. military, while questioning the mainstream media. After months of endless media coverage of the mistreatment of prisoners at Abu Graib, with little to no mention of our military's sacrifice and successes, enough is enough. Brigade Quartermasters, the military and law enforcement gear and clothing company whose mission is Deliver the Goods to the Good Guys(TM), speaks up in more than ten pages of tribute to our military in the June and July catalog mailing to over 350,000 customers.
"We are obviously in a position to benefit from the sale of goods in this wartime effort but our relationship with those we serve and those who serve our country has long been about more than company profit. Our catalog cover depicts our modern military in a style that reminisces the World War II era, when soldiers were actually portrayed as heroes. And discounting a long tradition of featuring key products in the front of the catalog, we have forfeited this space in honor of our Good Guys," explained Tom Cox, Director of Brand Communications.
The special tribute issue features a quote from former President Ronald Reagan, a lengthy but poignant article by Bill Bennett titled "Remembering Why We Fight," an article entitled "Something That Didn't Make the News" by Bob Lonsberry which highlights the heroics on Navy Cross Medal recipient Marine Captain Brian Chontosh, and a special mention of Brigade's friend Scott Helvenston, who was killed in Fallujah, Iraq. Additionally, Brigade proudly donated an ad from the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund in order to help raise money for the children of our fallen heroes.

3. WHO THE HELL IS BASHING OUR TROOPS?! |
|
I haven't heard of anyone bashing our troops. However, lots of people are bashing our president for needlessly endangering our troops.
I hate this misdirection bullshit.

7. It's a pretty common mentality. |
|
Reporter X writes a less-than-favorable story about Bishop Cantkeepitinhispants, and a hundred letters come pouring in accusing the paper of bashing Catholics as a group, even if Reporter X is only reporting the facts about ONE of its clergymen.
Of all the various groups who engage in this sort of thing, it seems that military and veterans' groups do it more and louder than any of them. Why is this? As usual, it is a noisy minority that taints the entire group with their ridiculous whining.

6. This military supply company is really going out on a limb |
|
Imagine, a company that supplies military gear praising military action. What outstanding courage.
"We are obviously in a position to benefit from the sale of goods in this wartime effort..."
Yes, every bullet hole in a uniform adds to their bottom line. Every boot (and foot) blown off a soldier guard is another hundred bucks.

8. Bill Bennet Writing About Fighting |
|
Bill Bennet writing an article entitled "Remembering Why We Fight" is just crazy. If we need to fight and it is such a good thing why has he never served in the military?
