Annoyed White House says Cheney will be VP candidate
WASHINGTON (AFP) - US Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) will be President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s running mate, the White House said, expressing sharp annoyance at suggestions that the controversial official would not seek re-election.

"Yes, he will be on the ticket," Bush spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters. "You all amaze me sometimes, playing to this kind of speculation when it was asked and answered long ago."

McClellan was reacting to a front-page New York Times story dissecting what it called a "far-fetched" conspiracy theory racing through political circles "like the latest low-carb diet."

The theory -- advanced privately by prominent Democrats, including lawmakers -- holds that Cheney recently dismissed his personal doctor so he could see a new one, who will conveniently tell him in August that his well-known severe heart trouble makes him unfit to run with Bush, the Times said.

Gotta love the headline, Snotty Scotty has to refute the story. :)

will blame it on the liberal press and the dirty dems - his condition will be critical and he will not be able to continue. That will make him a martyr and okay for someone new on the ticket (to garnish sympathy and patriot vote). While all along he continues to operate from the comforts of his shadow gov't office in a nice safe bunker deep beneath the surface. The man behind the curtain will continue to pull the levers and push the buttons to make them believe in the wizard.

edited for many, many typos

3. Tell you what, Scott.
If you're tired of being re-asked the same questions over and over again, perhaps you should try answering them with even a vague hint of sincerity. . . or at least a lack of obvious contempt for the general public. This guy isn't even Ari Fliesher. . .

6. So this means he's gone
that's what it sounds like to me, an internal coup. We all know who the real power is behind the curtain, the thing to do is to find another controllable puppet, acceptable to the public, so who is that?

15. The other side of the Hillary for VP story . . .
how many times did Democratic spokespeople have to deny that one? Prominent Republicans, including lawmakers -- held that Clinton would be the VP candidate with Kerry, even though that wasn't ever seriously discussed to my knowledge. Poor Scotty . . .

18. Hey! Maybe Caligula should ask Hillary to be his running mate!
She did support the conquest of Iraq and she is waaaaay smarter than any Republican they could possibly choose. This would counter the "Kerry wants McCain" dance tune that the Repubs liked so much.
