Did anyone see Warner on CNN? When I walked in, he seemed to be saying that DOD, Rummy were being forthcoming, and doing all they could. They are addressing this issue, but are they trying to address it on their terms, instead of Seymour Hersh's terms?
Senator: more Iraq abuse allegations
Washington, DC, Jul. 15 (UPI) -- There are still more allegations of abuse of detainees in Iraq by the U.S. military, Virginia Republican Sen. John Warner said Thursday.
"We are still uncovering as late as this morning other cases that will be promptly investigated by the Defense Department, allegations relating to variances of the Geneva Convention and indeed rules and regulations" of the military, Warner told reporters.
The Army is investigating at least 90 cases of alleged abuse of detainees and civilians by soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Among them are at least 37 deaths of detainees, nine of them apparent homicides....
