Iraq oil export pipeline ablaze after attack
KIRKUK, Iraq (AFP) - Suspected insurgents set ablaze the export pipeline from Iraq (news - web sites)'s northern oil fields in a new blow to the caretaker government's efforts to revive the country's main revenue earner.

A series of breaches were also reported on the network serving Iraq's southern fields but officials insisted they were small-scale and the result of pilfering rather than sabotage.

The explosion on the northern pipeline caused a complete halt to exports through the Turkish Mediterranean terminal of Ceyhan, an official with the state-owned Northern Oil Company said.

Company fire chief Issa Ahmed said crews had been sent to tackle the blaze which had engulfed a section of pipeline near Fatha, some 90 kilometres (60 miles) west of the oil centre of Kirkuk.

that signals death.

But in truth, the authorities here are already cut off from the
rest of Iraq. Baquba is run by armed men. Insurgents
control Samara and Fallujah and Ramadi, and Muqtada
Sadr's militia control the centre of
Najaf.

IMHO-This is so out of control.

7. Sadr's militia controls Nasiriyah and Sadr City too...
On NBC News last night, they showed Sadr's militia in Nasiriyah destroying liquor stores and detaining people who have gone against their stringent islamic laws.
