Kerry Asks Sen. Clinton to Speak at DNC
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=694&u=/ap/20040715/ap_on_el_pr/kerry_clinton_1&printer=1

John Kerry (news - web sites) has asked Hillary Rodham Clinton (news -web sites) to introduce her husband, former President Clinton (news - web sites), on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, giving her a speaking role that Democrats had sought for the New York senator.

The Kerry campaign unveiled its first set of speakers for the convention early this week, including former Presidents Clinton and Gore, Al Gore (news - web sites) and others, but the absence of the former first lady drew criticism from Democrats, particularly women.

The senator herself said she was not disappointed, but a lobbying effort quickly got under way on her behalf.

Kerry, who was campaigning in Pennsylvania, reached out to Clinton and asked her to introduce her husband. She agreed to the request, according to an aide to Kerry.

Governor of Arizona?

As much as I respect and like Hillary, she's not the only accomplished woman in the DNC. Hence the DNC's strength.

Let some other ladies have a shot at it.

11. Wow, you must have a pretty low opinion of soccer moms
to think that putting Hillary Clinton on the podium is all it takes to consolidate the "soccer mom" vote behind the ticket. Or maybe you think Hillary knows how the activate the computer chip that has been implanted in every soccer mom.

Sure, all we women need is female leader to speak and we'll stay onboard. Yeah, that's it.

10. Well, at least she's only introducing her husband
I for one do not believe that Hillary Clinton is entitled to a permanent spot on the speaker's list for the national convention. I feel the same way about Ted Kennedy and Jesse Jackson too.

15. Bad idea - Now they'll say he flip-flopped, caved etc etc etc
The nets will all talk about the "story" behind Sen Clinton's introduction. Frankly I love them both to death but I'm sick of the soap opera.

17. Various interest groups should just shut the hell up 'til Nov 3rd
The black caucus doesn't like the new ads, some are all atwitter over no Hillary, people want this and that in the platform - and on and on. Can't we fight over all this bullshit after AWOL has been retired? I know this sounds harsh but Christ lets just win and fight later. I don't want to hear everyone talking about Hillary and Bill during John Kerry's convention - and now that's all we'll hear. AHHHHHH

time for debate is after the election! Then let the games begin, flame each other until the cows come home. Our freedoms will be gone if we have to endure another four years of shrub. Then the only thing you will be debating is how shrub got reselected! Jeesh.

23. Well, there is a strong school of thought.....
that said Al Gore would've done much better than he did if he would have use President Clinton more in his campaign, so let's not forget that.

25. On this one, I don't agree
I do not believe that Clinton could have helped Gore. And BOTH Clintons will not help Kerry.....he doesn't need their help.

Bill Clinton will speak before the convention as an x president. That's appropriate. Both of them is an overload.

There are other very good democratic women leaders in Congress other than Hillary Clinton.

I can't believe that Kerry succumbed to this.
