11% of Presidential Voters Have Seen Fahrenheit 9/11
WASHINGTON - July 15 - According to a new poll released today, viewership of Fahrenheit 9/11 continues to grow with 11% of all voters now reporting they have seen Michael Moore’s film. This is nearly double the number of viewers since the July 4th weekend, when 6% reported having seen the movie.

An additional 33% intend to see Fahrenheit 9/11, which means that 44% of all voters in the 2004 Presidential election could be exposed to the film.

It's a press release from MoveOn PAC, I hope this qualifies as news.

11. I wouldn't count on Blockbuster carrying it
They back down, if pressure is put on them. Try to find a copy of "The Last Temptation of Christ" there. I suspect the freepers or some other rw outfit will threaten to boycott them if they stock it.

I bought my sister "Bowling for Columbine" on DVD for X-Mas. I looked at Best Buy, first, because that's where I found "The Lion in Winter" for my mom. They didn't carry it at all-I asked and was told "we never had that one". I got it at Target.

14. I bought Bowling for Columbine
At a Blockbuster in Alamo 'Whites.' They had new and used copies. I'll have to see if they have the Last Temptaion.

16. I bought it used at Blockbuster, too.
And our local Best buy had plenty of copies. This is in Atlanta. Maybe it's regional.

25. Blockbuster is where I rented "Bowling for Columbine"
They'll carry F 9/11 if they think they'll get rentals from it. It's all about money. And believe me, people WILL rent it. Like crazy. The people who didn't want to see it in the theater.

4. "85% of those going in to see F 9/11 are going to vote for Kerry.
100% of those coming out are going to vote for Kerry" i heard that from some talking head - and I like it.

We just need a couple of percent of voters who are truly independent to go see the movie.

26. Everytime I walk out of F 9/11
I think in my head "bush is a mother f*****" and I am not prone to such language. I can't get it out of my head when I see that film.

6. Record Crowds at the Polls
I foresee another '92...

I don't know what the turnout rate was nationally, I just remember the long, long lines at the polling places, ready to oust Bush.

I worked the polls in '96, too, and the turnout was mellow. No long lines of outraged Clinton haters, just a smattering of cranky right-wingers and lots of Democrats doing their duty.

7. See if you can register voters outside the theater
On our local opening night the theater manager allowed a group of Dems to have a reg table inside the lobby. Vets for Peace + some other vets groups had a table outside.

F911 had to move to another theater after 5 days because of Spiderman 2, but it is still showing.

13. I suspect if they are willing to view a political movie like F 9-11 they
will be voting. It is the ones that won't bother to see the film that will sit on their ass and not vote.

8. Response from a friend
A friend had told me he was all for invading Iraq because - for in a word - he knew they had threatening WMD. That was immediately after the invasion - haven't mentioned it since. But asked him if he still supported our action in Iraq ... snip from his reply:

"I was just so angry and devastated by 9/11...just like the majority of the other people in this country.  Especially now after having seen "Fahrenheit 9/11" - I just detest that motherfucker Bush."

Let's hope everybody wises up like that. Temporary insanity is well understood.

9. It should be required viewing
I finally saw it this week. The last time I shivered like that throughout a film was when I saw "1984." If nothing else, at least the Iraq footage needs to be seen by the American public, so they can get a taste of what is being wrought in their name!

12. Good idea!
I think buying the dvd and sharing it out is a great idea. I recall some earlier criticism I read of Moore from the left to the effect that he had released the film too early in the electoral cycle to have maximum effect.

The early DVD distribution, however, suggests he knew what he was doing.

People who might have seen the film, but who have been disasauded from doing so because of histrionic blather by GOP shills and the conversative media, or because they think going to the film would make them appear "disloyal" to their GOP neighbours, will now get a chance to view it before the election. They can either rent it, buy it, or borrow it from a friend.

All in all, I think this is a good distribution plan for a film that was explcitly made to help defeat Bush. I think anti-Bush people should buy at least one copy, and circulate it to people they know who haven't seen it, but might want to, before they vote. Especially in "red" states where close contests are expected.

20. Where else could it be shown?
Invite others to see it at a local Democratic meeting?
Colleges?
Labor Union meetings?
VFW?
Veteran organizations?

Where else?

Yes... some organizations support Democrats but not all members are strong supporters and need something to push them over for this election.

17. How many voted in 2000 Presidential election?
about 100 million, give or take, correct?

So ~11 million people have seen F911 already? Or is this polling playing games with numbers :)

according to these guys

Don't know what the total for 9/11 will be , but I think it will be in play as a voting decision input.

21. Soon for sale at every Walmart
in America! As well as every K-mart, and Target, during the busiest shopping season, Back to School, right there at the check out line. Half the voters will have seen it by November.

23. Estimated Release will be October
No firm date for the release just yet though. You can keep your eye on this site http://videoeta.com/month_video.html?month=10&year=2004&from=65634 and they will announce the firm date as soon as they can.

I think we should have private viewing parties for our neighbors. Then we can turn it over to them to show to their friends. If we each purchase two copies and do this, imagine how many people will be able to watch it, pause it to discuss it, rewind it to watch portions again, and then they could pass it off to someone else to share with their friends. October can't come soon enough for me. I've been back to see it three times already.

24. bill schneidwhore of CNN said this week that, by the time
the DVDs are out, fifty nine percent, or more, of voters will have seen it

I found that hard to believe, but I sure hope he's right

if people's minds are changed at the rate reported at DU, it will be significant
