Cigarette lighter prompts bomb scare at Tokyo subway station
A bomb-like object was found Friday morning on a platform at Magome Station on Tokyo's Asakusa Line, leading the subway operator to stop the service during the morning rush period from 8:20 a.m. until about 9:30 a.m.

But the object — a plastic cylindrical container 6 centimeters wide and 7 cm tall — turned out to be a cigarette lighter placed on a bench in the center of the platform, according to police who checked the station in Ota Ward. As liquefied gas and the ignition portion could be seen from the transparent container, a passenger apparently reported it as a suspicious object. (Kyodo News)
