Justice's Banished Monument to Tour U.S. (10 Commandments: The Road Tour)
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- A veterans group, with the blessing of ousted Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, said it will take his Ten Commandments monument on a national "God Bless America" tour.

The 5,280-pound granite monument, out of public view for nearly a year after Moore lost a court fight over its display, will be hauled to rallies for three months by the group American Veterans Standing for God and Country.

"This is not a church movement, and this is not a military movement," Jim Cabaniss, president of the Houston-based group, said Friday. "This is the veterans that have fought for our country taking a stand for what is good for our children and grandchildren."

Moore was expelled as chief justice for refusing to move the monument out of the state judicial building's rotunda after a judge ruled it was an unconstitutional display.

The tour, announced Thursday on the Web site of a pastor who is a member of the group, will feature a veteran, a civic leader and a spiritual leader speaking at each stop.

1. If a ten commandments monument falls in the forest,
does anybody care? Do they really expect this to cause a stir?

6. I wonder if the rumors of his impending candidacy are true!

Wouldn't this be the perfect way for his already recursive logic to inspire him to announce that he will challenge Chimpy in November?

7. So he's schlepping that GRAVEN IMAGE around with him now.
Maybe he should take a moment and read the inscription again. Maybe the 10 commandments need to be clarified for his purposes, as in:

Thou, Roy Moore, shalt not drag around any huge carving of the 10 commandments, hoping to fire up the fundies, and advance thyself.

Maybe it's the view of the schemers working the chumps that mere words aren't dynamic enough to stir their sluggish minds, and focus their overstimulated passions, so they need something solid, three-dimensional to gaze at, to collect them. They need a physical symbol.
Very thoughtful, isn't it?

10. It's gonna fall off the truck ... and break into a 1000 pieces ...
Edited on Fri Jul-16-04 06:58 PM by Trajan
I was struck by a part of the PBS 'Colonial House' series, where the Governor's daughter, while in church, chastised the 'agnostics' who refused to believe in her Jesus, who was the only means of happiness she needed, who gave her everything she could possibly wanted in life, and how she could NOT possibly understand why ANYONE would not want her Jesus and how anyone could possibly be happy without his gifts like she is ...

The next morning: she received a call that her fiance had been killed and her brother seriously injured in a car crash .... at some time after she gave her speech to the Colonial House Heathens ...

You, of course, may see only chance occurance and unrelation ... as do I .... such facts ARE not correlated .... only in time ...

But the irony of the coincidental facts could not escape my skeptical mind ... such is the nature of chance, and fate ...

SO it goes with our precious beliefs ... dashed against the rocks of fate most cruel .... uprooting our gods, in their perfection, and loosing them into the realms of the common and gross realities of real existence ... That chunk of precious rock will break, somewhere, somehow ... it will break ...

12. Where do we find someone who knows what the Ten Commandments mean
who also owns a big forklift?

Let's say someone who just happened to own one of these:

and who remembers the story of Aaron and the Golden Calf, were to just show up unannounced at one of these little freep-ins, pluck the GC off the truck, and deposit said GC in the nearest river?

I didn't know I fought to defend lawbreaking.
